Extremely Rare Coexistence of Peripherally Located Mucous Gland Adenoma and Pulmonary Chondroid Hamartoma.

Pulmonary mucous gland adenomas (MGAs) originating in mucous-secreting cells in the bronchi are extremely rare benign tumours. Pulmonary chondroid hamartomas (PCHs) are the most common benign neoplasms of mesenchymal origin of the lung. This study reports an unusual case where MGA and PCH coexisted in a peripheral intra-parenchymal location.

Manganism due to occupational welding fume exposure: a case report.

Occupational exposure to manganese (Mn) primarily occurs through the inhalation of manganese-containing fumes and dust, with welding environments being significant sources of such exposure. Elevated levels of Mn in welding fumes can lead to a neurological syndrome known as manganism. A 28-yr-old male welder with 14 yr of experience, is presenting with complaints of forgetfulness, reasoning disorder, and decreased mental functions persisting for 10 yr.

Is There Any Effect of Retrograde Intrarenal Stone Surgery on Renal Functions in Childhood?

Purpose In this study, we aimed to demonstrate whether retrograde intrarenal stone surgery (RIRS) performed due to renal stones during the childhood period has any detrimental impact on renal functions. Materials and methods We retrospectively analyzed 121 patients aged 2 to 16 years who underwent RIRS for renal stones between March 2018 and February 2023. Data were available for 41 patients.

Value of integrated pulmonary index to predict exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary Disease's severity.

Purpose: In this study, we aimed to examine the correlation between current prognostic scores and the integrated pulmonary index (IPI) in patients admitted to the emergency department (ED) with exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and the diagnostic value of using the IPI in combination with other scores in determining patients who can be discharged safely.

Methods: This study was conducted as a multicenter and prospective observational study between August 2021 and June 2022. Patients diagnosed with COPD exacerbation (eCOPD) at the ED were included in the study and they were grouped according to the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) classification.

Evaluation of postictal optic nerve sheath diameter at epileptic patients.

Introduction: During a seizure, metabolic rate and, consequently, cerebral blood flow increase to provide the required maintenance energy. It is thought that this causes an increase in intracranial pressure, but there is no comprehensive research on this subject. In this study, we aimed to measure and follow optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) in patients who applied to the emergency department (ED) after generalized tonic-clonic (GTC) seizures and to gain information about intracranial pressure changes in epilepsy patients in the postictal period.
