Background And Aims: The European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) Lipid Clinics Network promoted a survey in order to identify and understand how and when lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is tested and clinically evaluated in lipid clinics throughout Europe, and the challenges that may prevent evaluation from being carried out.
Methods: This survey was divided into three areas of inquiry: background and clinical setting information of clinicians, questions for doctors who claimed not to measure Lp(a), in order to understand what were the reasons for not ordering the test, and questions for doctors who measure Lp(a), to investigate the use of this value in the management of patients.
Results: A total of 151 centres clinicians filled in the survey, out of 226 invited.

Objective: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) complications increase with late diagnosis and late treatment, so early diagnosis and treatment is one of the most important factors in preventing complications. We tried to find an answer to the question of whether the detection of large for gestational age (LGA) fetus in fetal anomaly scan (FAS) requires earlier oral glucose screening test (OGTT) and predicts LGA fetus at birth.
Patients And Methods: Pregnant women who underwent fetal anomaly scan and gestational diabetes screening at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Health Sciences, Tepecik Training and Research Hospital between 2018 and 2020 were included in this large retrospective cohort study.

Objective: To evaluate the changes of fetal epicardial fat thickness (EFT) in pregnancies with pregestational diabetes mellitus (PGDM) and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and to identify the diagnostic effectiveness of fetal EFT in differentiating PGDM and GDM from normal pregnancies.
Methods: The study was conducted with pregnant women who admitted to perinatology department between October 2020 and August 2021. Patients were grouped as PGDM ( = 110), GDM ( = 110), and control ( = 110) for comparison of fetal EFT.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, various severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 variants have been identified with different characteristics than the nonvariant strain. We retrospectively evaluated the demographic and clinical differences in the cohort of hospitalized COVID-19 children (1 month-18 years old) between March 11, 2020, and September 31, 2022, by the time the variants identified in our country predominate. Bonferroni post hoc analysis was performed to compare the differences between the periods.

Neutrophils are the most abundant leukocytes in the blood. They are rapidly mobilized from the circulation to sites of inflammation and/or infection. In affected tissues, neutrophils exhibit some dramatic antimicrobial functions, including degranulation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, phagocytosis, and formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs).

Introduction: The skeletal muscle area (SMA) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) are both considered as predictive parameters for mortality and morbidity for various type of cancer. In this study, we aimed to identify the effects of pre-operative SMA and PNI values on post-operative mortality and morbidity in patients with periampullary region tumors (PRT).
Methods: Patients between 2010 and 2020 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into two groups according to SMA and PNI cutoff values.

Among the hematological parameters, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet/ lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have been associated with inflammatory state, microvascular damage and ischemia. It is well-known that these ratios increase in idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL). In ISSHL, different audiographic features may reflect different disease mechanisms.

This study aims to evaluate cardiac function in cases of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) and compare results with those from healthy controls using the fetal left ventricular modified myocardial performance index (LMPI) and E-wave/A-wave peak velocities (E/A ratio). Moreover, the association between LMPI values, total bile acid (TBA) levels, fetal Doppler measurements, and adverse neonatal outcomes was evaluated. A prospective cross-sectional study of 120 pregnant women was conducted, with 60 having ICP and the other 60 serving as controls.

Ovarian germ cell tumours constitute 5% of all ovarian cancers. During the natural course and treatment of these tumours , there may be more unusual cases. One of them is gliomatosis peritonei, which is characterised by the spread of glial cells on the peritoneal surfaces, while the other one is growing teratoma syndrome characterised by the rapid growth of benign component and loss or shrinkage of the malignant component in response to systemic chemotherapy during the treatment of germ cell tumours.
