Highly selective inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 (CDK4/6is) have emerged as a standart of care for first- and second-line therapies in combination with endocrine therapy (ET) for HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients. It has been reported that combination therapy is more effective than ET alone and is safe in elderly patients as well as young patients. Nevertheless, elderly and very old patients with HR+/HER2-MBC treated with CDK4/6 inhibitor (CDK4/6i) combinations are relatively underrepresented in randomized controlled trials.

Enhancing nutritional care in palliative care units: assessing nurse knowledge and quality perception in enteral nutrition practices.

Background: Adequate, balanced, and individualized nutrition, planned according to the patients' life expectancy in palliative care units, is crucial for maintaining essential functions.

We present the treatment of a patient with pheochromocytoma and tumor thrombosis of the renal vein and inferior vena cava. A thirty-eight-year-old male patient was admitted complaining of abdominal pain and headache.

Inhibitor development upon switching from plasma-derived to recombinant factor VIII in previously untreated patients with severe hemophilia A: the PUP-SWITCH study.

Background: The SIPPET randomized clinical trial showed that in previously untreated patients (PUPs) with severe hemophilia A, treatment with plasma-derived factor (F)VIII (pdFVIII) within the first 50 exposure days (EDs) was associated with a lower cumulative incidence of inhibitors than with recombinant FVIII (rFVIII). Switching to rFVIII beyond 50 EDs with pdFVIII is a treatment often implemented by many centers. The question is whether or not this switch may induce a risk of inhibitor development.

It presents in two different forms according to the type of tapeworm: Echinococcus granulosus (hydatid disease [HD]) and Echinococcus multilocularis (alveolar HD). Radiological imaging can reveal the type of cyst, disease activity and progression, and complications, with features depending on the HD stage, the organ involved, and complications.

Giant Metastatic Intracardiac Malignant Fibrous Tumor Presenting with Supraventricular Tachycardia: A Case Report.

Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are rare neoplasms originating from fibroblastic mesenchymal cells. This case report details a 43-year-old female patient with cardiac SFT, a rarity in the medical literature, who presented with palpitations and a known malignancy. Supraventricular tachycardia was diagnosed in the emergency department, and a subsequent echocardiography revealed a giant mass in the left atrium after sinus rhythm restoration.

The fluctuating incidence of RSV, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, has shifted the spotlight onto preventive strategies. Our study aims to investigate both the risk factors and clinical symptoms of RSV.

Virtual anatomical atlas of the deep brain nuclei.

This study aims to improve understanding of the anatomy of the deep brain nuclei relevant to deep brain stimulation as well as stereotactic lesioning procedures, including radio frequency, high-focused ultrasound, and radiosurgery. We created interactive, three-dimensional virtual models from cadaveric dissections and radiological segmentation. We used five brain specimens (ten hemispheres) obtained from routine autopsies, prepared according to Klingler's method.

Assessing the incidence of hyperoxia and the effectiveness of Oxygen Reserve Index-guided FiO2 titration in hyperoxia prevention.

Background: Although pulse oximetry technology, which is considered the standard of care to ensure optimum oxygenation, is indispensable in clinical practice, especially in the detection of hypoxemia, it has some limitations in the detection of hyperoxemia. Oxygen Reserve Index can provide clinicians with a crucial pathway in detecting and preventing hyperoxia, noninvasively.
