The major cytotoxic metabolites of Lissoclinum patella from Pohnpei have been isolated and identified. Most of the cytotoxicity is attributed to a new cyclic peptide, ulithiacyclamide B [4], which is closely related to ulithiacyclamide [1]. The proposed structure of 4 is based on spectroscopic analysis and chemical degradation.

We have diagnosed and treated three patients with complete rupture of the radial collateral ligament of the metacarpo-phalangeal joint of the index finger. Rupture of the radial collateral ligament of the metacarpo-phalangeal joint occurs most commonly in the little finger and has not previously been reported in the index finger. Operative treatment is recommended in all cases, due to the significant stresses placed on the radial side of the M.

Premigration differences in anthorpometry and blood pressure are examined for evidence of selective migration for biological characteristics. We conducted a 5-years follows-up of the migration status of 99 American Samoans 15-30 years old who had been previously examined in 1981 and found that 33 had migrated. Analysis of covariance of the baseline anthorpometry and blood pressures of the nonmigrants (n = 58) and those who subsequently migrated (n = 29) indicates that selective migration does occur among young American Samoan adults.

A route for fetal 8-arginine vasopressin (AVP) clearance has not yet been established. The results of this study indicate that in the fetal guinea pig, the amniotic sac is a site for AVP metabolism. When fetal plasma, urine, and amniotic fluid were fractionated on HPLC, AVP was identified only in fetal plasma and urine.

Hearing loss in the aviation environment has been attributed to a variety of factors ranging from aircraft noise exposure to the aging process. Consequently, this study was conducted to determine the relative contribution of age, total flight hours, type of aircraft, and use of hearing protection to hearing loss in U.S.

Three instances of estimation of postmortem interval using computer-assisted entomological techniques on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands are presented. While postmortem intervals were similar for all cases (4-5 1/2 days), recovery of the remains in differing habitats (xerophytic, mesophytic, and swamp) on the island resulted in significant differences in gross appearance of the remains, which could have resulted in the determination of different postmortem intervals in the absence of entomological techniques.
