Assessment of the tolerance angle for pedicle screw insertion.

Cannulation process intervenes before implantation of pedicle screw and depends on the surgeon's experience. A reliable experimental protocol has been developed for the characterization of the slipping behavior of the surgical tool on the cortical shell simulated by synthetic materials. Three types of synthetic foam samples with three different densities were tested using an MTS Acumen 3 A/T electrodynamic device with a tri-axis 3 kN Kistler load cell mounted on a surgical tool, moving at a constant rotational speed of 10° mm and performing a three-step cannulation test.

Land Use Planning to Reduce Flood Risk: Opportunities, Challenges and Uncertainties in Developing Countries.

Land use planning for flood risk reduction has been significantly addressed in literature. However, a clear methodology for flood mitigation oriented land-use planning and its implementation, particularly in developing countries like Lebanon, is still missing. Knowledge on land use planning is still in its earliest stages in Lebanon.

Dataset for centrifuge modelling of laterally monotonic loaded monopiles in saturated dense sand.

The presented dataset was collected in seven centrifuge tests, specifically designed for modelling the lateral response of offshore monopiles in dense sand. Two model piles with outer diameter  = 50 mm were loaded laterally at 100 × . The embedding depths were 3, 5, 7 and 9, with load eccentricity of 5, 10 and 15.

Medicine consumptions and occupational road risk.

Background: Whereas an increased risk of road traffic crashes has been highlighted as linked to some medicine consumptions, there is no available data on this risk according to the type of journey (private, commuting or mission). Drivers on occupational journey (commuting or mission) are likely to have different coping behaviors related to the use of medicines than drivers on private journey. The aim of our study was to investigate the association between exposure to ten classes of medicines and the risk of being responsible for a road traffic crash according to the type of journey (private, commuting or mission).

Cyclostationary-Based Vital Signs Detection Using Microwave Radar at 2.5 GHz.

Non-contact detection and estimation of vital signs such as respiratory and cardiac frequencies is a powerful tool for surveillance applications. In particular, the continuous wave bio-radar has been widely investigated to determine the physiological parameters in a non-contact manner. Since the RF-reflected signal from the human body is corrupted by noise and random body movements, traditional Fourier analysis fails to detect the heart and breathing frequencies.
