Over the past few years, the widespread outbreak of COVID-19 has caused the death of millions of people worldwide. Early diagnosis of the virus is essential to control its spread and provide timely treatment. Artificial intelligence methods are often used as powerful tools to reach a COVID-19 diagnosis via computed tomography (CT) samples.

The use of photocatalysis technology, specifically visible light photocatalysis that relies on sustainable solar energy, is the most promising for the degradation of contaminants. The interaction of conducting polymer and titanium dioxide (TiO) leads to the exchange that enhances the alteration of the semiconductor's surface and subsequently decreases the bandgap energy. Polypyrrole (PPy) and TiO nanocomposites have promising potential for photocatalytic degradation.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials can be effectively functionalized by chemically modified using doping. Very recently, a flat AgSe monolayer was successfully prepared through direct selenization of the Ag(111) surface. Besides, the results indicate that the AgSe monolayer like CuSe, has a honeycomb lattice.

Vortex mediated turbulence can be the key element in the generation of extreme events in spatially extended lasers with optical injection. Here, we study the interplay of vortex mediated turbulence and cavity solitons on the onset of extreme events in semiconductor lasers with injection. We first analyze and characterize these two features separately, spatiotemporal chaotic optical vortices for low values of the injection intensity and cavity solitons above the locking regime.

The remarkable application of tin oxide in various domains is indebted to its photoelectronic merits. However, significant efforts to discover its photocatalytic potential were restricted through arduous challenges, which were the amelioration of light-harvesting and -utilizing. In fact, the uncommon light absorption energy has drawn veil over the brilliance of astounding oxidation potential, which is much more than that of TiO.

J Behav Ther Exp Psychiatry

December 2024

Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities, University of Guilan, Rasht, Iran. Electronic address:

Background And Objectives: Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) is an impulsive aggression disorder with self-control problems. However, the mechanisms underpinning the self-control problems in IED have not been clearly investigated. Therefore, this study examined the nature of self-control problems and their types, including cognitive inhibition, behavioral inhibition, and emotional interference in IED.

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of different lipid sources, with or without a probiotic, on the gastrointestinal tract, immune system and blood parameters of Ross 308 male chickens. In this study, 360 one-day-old chickens were randomly allotted to six treatments with six replicates. Experimental diets were: (1) control (CTL); (2) a diet containing 30 g/kg lipid from tallow (CTL+TLW); (3) a diet containing 30 g/kg lipid from soybean oil (CTL+SO); (4) the basal diet plus a probiotic (CTL+PRO), (5) a diet containing 30 g/kg tallow plus probiotic (TLW+PRO); and (6) a diet containing 30 g/kg soybean oil plus probiotic (SO+PRO).

Physical activity promotes various metabolic benefits by balancing pro and anti-inflammatory adipokines. Recent studies suggest that asprosin might be involved in progression of metabolic syndrome (MetS), however, the underlying mechanisms have not been understood yet. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT), and further detraining on MetS indices, insulin resistance, serum and the liver levels of asprosin, and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathway in menopause-induced MetS model of rats.

This study provided a promising way to fabricate low-cost and high-performance Poly (vinyl alcohol)-reduced graphene oxide (PVA-RGO) nanofibers/n-Si heterojunction photodetector. For this purpose, the hybrid heterojunction with a very-high rectification ratio (2.4 × 10) was achieved by successfully coating PVA-RGO nanofibers on n-Si wafer by electrospinning method.

Entangled spin coherent states are a type of quantum states that involve two or more spin systems that are correlated in a nonclassical way. These states can improve metrology and information processing, as they can surpass the standard quantum limit, which is the ultimate bound for precision measurements using coherent states. However, finding entangled coherent states in physical systems is challenging because they require precise control and manipulation of the interactions between the modes.

The application of organic amendments is one way to manage low water irrigation in paddy soils. In this 60-day greenhouse pot experiment involving paddy soil undergoing drying-rewetting cycles, we examined the effects of two organic amendments: azo-compost with a low carbon to phosphorus ratio (C:P) of 40 and rice straw with a high C:P ratio of 202. Both were applied at rates of 1.

In this paper, an analytical model based on the percolation theory has been developed to predict the subbands effect on the effective electrical resistivity of carbon nanotubes (CNT)-based polymer nanocomposites. The CNTs are considered as randomly distributed or aligned channel material in the polymer transmitting electrons through tunneling. The tunneling effect takes into account the electron transmission between each connected pair of CNTs to evaluate electrical resistivity.

Jiangsu Co-Innovation Center of Efficient Processing and Utilization of Forest Resources and International Innovation Center for Forest Chemicals and Materials, Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing 210037, China. Electronic address:

Developing new hybrid materials is critical for addressing the current needs of the world in various fields, such as energy, sensing, health, hygiene, and others. C-dots are a member of the carbon nanomaterial family with numerous applications. Aggregation is one of the barriers to the performance of C-dots, which causes luminescence quenching, surface area decreases, etc.

Myocarditis poses a significant health risk, often precipitated by viral infections like coronavirus disease, and can lead to fatal cardiac complications. As a less invasive alternative to the standard diagnostic practice of endomyocardial biopsy, which is highly invasive and thus limited to severe cases, cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging offers a promising solution for detecting myocardial abnormalities. This study introduces a deep model called ELRL-MD that combines ensemble learning and reinforcement learning (RL) for effective myocarditis diagnosis from CMR images.

The objective of the current investigation was to evaluate the induction of heat shock proteins (HSPs) in SP2/0 transgenic cells and the effect of these proteins on the production of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). The SP2/0 cell line expressing the PSG-026 antibody, a biosimilar candidate of golimumab, the culture parameters, and the target protein expression were not justified for industrial production and were used for the experiments. Paracetamol and heat shock were used as chemical and physical inducers of HSPs, respectively.

In low-dimensional systems, the lack of structural inversion symmetry combined with the spin-orbit coupling gives rise to an anisotropic antisymmetric superexchange known as the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI). Various features have been reported due to the presence of DMIs in quantum systems. We here study the one-dimensional spin-1/2 transverse field XY chains with a DMI at zero temperature.
