The ability of a data fusion system composed of a computer vision system (CVS) and an electronic nose (e-nose) was evaluated to predict key physiochemical attributes and distinguish red-fleshed kiwifruit produced in three distinct regions in northern Iran. Color and morphological features from whole and middle-cut kiwifruits, along with the maximum responses of the 13 metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) sensors of an e-nose system, were used as inputs to the data fusion system. Principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that the first two principal components (PCs) extracted from the e-nose features could effectively differentiate kiwifruit samples from different regions.

The effector proteins of several pathogenic bacteria contain the Glu-Pro-Ile--Ala (EPIA) motif or other similar motifs. The EPIYA motif is delivered into the host cells by type III and IV secretion systems, through which its tyrosine residue undergoes phosphorylation by host kinases. These motifs atypically interact with a wide range of Src homology 2 (SH2) domain-containing mammalian proteins through tyrosine phosphorylation, which leads to the perturbation of multiple signaling cascades, the spread of infection, and improved bacterial colonization.

Most plant and bacterial toxins are highly immunogenic with non-specific toxic effects. Human ribonucleases are thought to provide a promising basis for reducing the toxic agent's immunogenic properties, which are candidates for cancer therapy. In the cell, the ribonuclease inhibitor (RI) protein binds to the ribonuclease enzyme and forms a tight complex.

In this study, we evaluate the efficiency of two novel nanostructured adsorbents - chitosan-graphitic carbon nitride@magnetite (CS-g-CN@FeO) and graphitic carbon nitride@copper/zinc nanocomposite (g-CN@Cu/Zn NC) - for the rapid removal of methylparaben (MPB) from water. Our characterization methods, aimed at understanding the adsorbents' structures and surface areas, informed our systematic examination of influential parameters including sonication time, adsorbent dosage, initial MPB concentration, and temperature. We applied advanced modeling techniques, such as response surface methodology (RSM), generalized regression neural network (GRNN), and radial basis function neural network (RBFNN), to evaluate the adsorption process.

During the past few decades, researchers have attempted to discover an effective treatment for cancer. Exosomes are natural nanovesicles released by various cells and play a role in communication between cells. While natural exosomes have high clinical potential, their inherent limitations have prompted researchers to design exosomes with improved therapeutic properties.

Next-generation sequencing demands high-quality nucleic acid, yet isolating DNA and RNA is often challenging, particularly from plant tissues. Despite advances in developing various kits and reagents, these products are tailored to isolation of nucleic acid from model plant tissues. Here we introduce a universal lysis buffer to separate nucleic acid from various plant species, including recalcitrant plants, to facilitate molecular analyses, such as quantitative PCR (qPCR), transcriptomics, and whole-genome sequencing (WGS).

High concentration of aluminum (Al) in drinking water is a major intake source of it and can result in serious diseases. Rice straw (RS) as lignocellulosic biomasses has great potential to peak up metal ions from aqueous environment, however, feasibility of Al removal by RS has not been investigated yet. The present study aimed to evaluate the capacity of RS as a novel biosorbent for Al from drinking water.

An increasing number of studies have suggested the relationship between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in toll-like receptor (TLR) genes and gastric cancer (GC) susceptibility; however, the available evidence is contradictory. This meta-analysis aimed to comprehensively evaluate whether the SNPs within the TLR family are related to GC development. PubMed, Scopus, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were systematically searched up to May 2023 to obtain the pertinent publications.

Diazinon (DZN) is an organophosphate pesticide frequently used in agriculture and released into aquatic environments. In this study, sterlet sturgeon cells were exposed to DZN to investigate possible defense mechanisms via HSP induction (HSPi). Liver, kidney, and gill cells of Acipenser ruthenus were isolated and cultured and then treated with HSPi (Pro-Tex®, amygdalin, and a novel pirano-piranazole-based synthesized compound: SZ) in the presence and absence of DZN.

In this study, [DABCO](SOH)CuCl as a novel DABCO-based molten salt with dual acidic functionality (Brønsted and Lewis) has been synthesized, characterized and used as a high-performance catalyst in the one-pot synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidine and polyhydroquinoline derivatives. The identification of this catalyst was accomplished by using techniques such as infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDS) spectroscopy. Excellent efficiency, short reaction times, a simple working method and also use of a recyclable catalyst are the considerable advantages of this process.

The current study aimed to explore the effects of proprioception versus core stability training over 8 weeks on the gait parameters of deaf adolescents. A total of 20 deaf adolescents were randomized into two groups: one group receiving proprioception training (PT, n = 10), another group receiving core stability training (CST, n = 10), and eleven typically developing adolescents assigned into the control group (CON; n = 11). Gait was recorded by two digital cameras; then, using the Kinovea software, the parameters of gait included: gait velocity, cadence, stride length, stride time, stance time, and swing time were calculated in terms of percentages of the walking cycle.

In the present paper, a facile and efficient synthetic procedure has been applied to obtain dihydrodipyrrolo[1,2-:2',1'-]pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylates (-), which have subsequently gone through the cyclization in the presence of hydrazine hydrate to afford 12-aryl-11-hydroxy-5,6-dihydropyrrolo[2″,1″:3',4']pyrazino[1',2':1,5]pyrrolo[2,3-]pyridazine-8(9)-ones (-). The molecular structures of these novel compounds were extensively examined through the analysis of spectroscopic data in combination with X-ray crystallography techniques. Following that, the cytotoxic activities of all derivatives against three human cancer cell lines (Panc-1, PC3, and MDA-MB-231) were comprehensively evaluated alongside the assessment on normal human dermal fibroblast (HDF) cells using the MTT assay.

A new and signal-off photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing platform utilizing TiO nanotube arrays (NTAs) coated with BiWO nanoparticles (NPs) has been successfully developed for the highly sensitive detection of sunset yellow (SY). The interaction between SY and BiWO NPs leads to substantial steric hindrance, resulting in a noticeable decrease in the photocurrent signal. The proposed PEC sensor demonstrates quantitative detection capabilities for SY across a wide liner range of 10 fM to 100 µM with an ultralow detection limit (LOD) of 0.

Aquatic environments face frequent exposure to organophosphate pesticides, such as diazinon, which are frequently utilized in agriculture. The goal of this study was to evaluate the effects of diazinon exposure on fish and to investigate the potential of the HSP inducer (HSPi) in developing a defense mechanism. To achieve this, several factors were analyzed, including the HSP70 gene expression, levels of immunity markers (lysozyme, IgM, and C3), antioxidant status, and the activity of acetylcholine esterase (AChE).
