Background: Dynamic knee valgus (DKV) accompanied by poor balance is the cause of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in athletes, and the identification and correction of these factors are always of interest to researchers. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of the STOP-X program on the knee valgus angle and static and dynamic balance in female basketball players with DKV defects.
Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental study.

Background: Being able to model a growth curve using three or four non-linear functional parameters could help explain the growth phenomenon in a precise way and would allow the comparison of an animal's development rate, optimize management and feeding strategies and guide animal production strategies.
Objective: The goal of this study was to estimate the genetic parameters of growth traits of Isfahan indigenous chicken in Iran and to determine the best non-linear model describing the growth curve.
Methods: The prediction of additive genetic parameters was performed using the REML method by WOMBAT.

Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) is a biocompatible polymer that can gradually and consistently release drugs in a controlled manner. In this study, diclofenac sodium-loaded PLGA nanoparticles (DS-PLGA NPs) were produced by solvent evaporation technique and characterized using SEM, DLS, and zeta potential analyses. The antibacterial and antivirulence potential of DS-PLGA NPs against P.

luciferase catalyzes the oxidation of coelenterazine to coelenteramide, resulting in the emission of a photon of light. This study investigated the impact of sorbitol on the structural and kinetic properties of luciferase using circular dichroism, fluorescence spectroscopy, and molecular dynamics simulations. Our investigation, carried out using circular dichroism and fluorescence analyses, as well as a thermal stability assay, has revealed that sorbitol induces conformational changes in the enzyme but does not improve its thermal stability.

Background: Google Trends data can be a valuable source of information for health-related issues such as predicting infectious disease trends.
Objectives: To evaluate the accuracy of predicting COVID-19 new cases in California using Google Trends data, we develop and use a GMDH-type neural network model and compare its performance with a LTSM model.
Methods: We predicted COVID-19 new cases using Google query data over three periods.

We report a method of enzyme stabilisation exploiting the artificial protein chaperone properties of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) covalently embedded in an ultrathin organosilica layer. Putative interaction points of this artificial chaperone system with the surface of the selected enzyme were studied using a protein energy landscape exploration simulation algorithm. We show that this enzyme shielding method allows for drastic enhancement of enzyme stability under thermal and chemical stress conditions, along with broadening the optimal temperature range of the biocatalyst.

Objective: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially progressive, autoimmune neurologic disorder of the central nervous system (CNS), resulting from an autoimmune attack on central nervous system white matter. Folate deficiencies are linked to DNA instability and breakdown of phospholipid membranes and thus might affect myelin integrity. Folic acid exerts its effects through its receptors (FRs).

A new series of furo[2,3-b]indol-3a-ol derivatives was synthesized to investigate their potential as inhibitors of the Cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) enzyme. CDK2 is a serine/threonine protein kinase belonging to a family of kinases involved in the control of the cell cycle. Based on results from clinical studies, it has been shown that overexpression of CDK2 may play a role in the development of cancer.

Background: Wheelchair athletes, as a group of elite athletes who participate in high-level sports activities, are constantly exposed to musculoskeletal injuries and disorders due to their frequent use of wheelchairs and overworked upper limbs. In this study, we investigated the effect of elastic band exercises on the extent of athletes' forward head angle, kyphosis, rounded shoulder, and pain scores.
Methods: Twenty-six male and female wheelchair athletes with spinal cord injuries (age: 27.

Permafrost, a vast storage reservoir of frozen organic matter, is rapidly thawing due to climate change, releasing previously preserved carbon into the environment. This phenomenon has significant consequences for microbial communities, including fungi, inhabiting permafrost-associated regions. In this review, we delve into the intricate interplay between permafrost thawing and fungal diversity and functionality with an emphasis on thermokarst lakes.

The post-translational modifications occur as crucial molecular regulatory mechanisms utilized to regulate diverse cellular processes. Malonylation of proteins, a reversible post-translational modification of lysine/k residues, is linked to a variety of biological functions, such as cellular regulation and pathogenesis. This modification plays a crucial role in metabolic pathways, mitochondrial functions, fatty acid oxidation and other life processes.

In the past, there have been reports of genetic parameters for milk proteins in various dairy cattle populations. The high variability among genetic parameter estimates has been caused by this. This study aimed to use a random-effects meta-analysis model to compile published estimates of genetic parameter for major milk proteins of α-lactalbumin, β-lactoglobulin, sum of whey proteins, casein, α-casein, α-casein, β-casein, and κ-casein in dairy cows.

In this work, the chaotic motions of relativistic electrons in X-ray free-electron lasers are investigated using an optical undulator in the presence of a magnetized ion-channel background. To miniaturize X-ray light sources, the optical undulator is a promising concept. The optical undulator provides higher optical gain than conventional magnetostatic undulators due to its micrometer wavelength.

Today, remote sensing is widely used to estimate soil properties. Because it is an easy and accessible way to estimate soil properties that are difficult to estimate in the field. Based on this, to evaluate the soil fertility (SF), soil sampling was performed irregularly from the surface depth of 0-30 cm in 216 points, 11 soil properties were measured, and the soil fertility index (SFI) was calculated by soil properties.

Introduction And Aim: Exercise training (Ex) and intermittent fasting (IF) are effective for improving body composition and cardiometabolic health overweight and obese adults, but whether combining Ex and IF induces additive or synergistic effects is less well established. We therefore, performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the combined versus independent effects of Ex and IF on body composition and cardiometabolic health in adults.
Method: An electronic search was conducted in three main online databases including PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus, from inception to March 9, 2023 for studies involving Ex plus IF trials versus standalone Ex and/or IF interventions in adults.

Hot-water-soluble starch (HWSS) was used as a powerful cementing material to produce nano-size conglomerates of talc and magnetite nanoparticles. Coordination of HWSS hydroxyl groups to iron atoms at surface of magnetite leads to grafting and encapsulation of its nanoparticles. The resulting nano-complex showed a higher loading capacity on talc than pristine magnetite nanoparticles.
