The fused deposition modeling (FDM) form of additive manufacturing provides a low-cost opportunity to quickly create unique parts with complex geometries using a high degree of precision. This is accomplished through a layer-by-layer extrusion of a metallic infused thermoplastic from a heated nozzle onto a build plate, until the 3D part is achieved. The ability to produce cheaply manufactured FDM printed cast iron parts would allow industries to bypass casting lead times and create custom cast iron parts without a machined mold.

West Nile virus (WNV) is a mosquito-borne zoonotic flavivirus which often causes asymptomatic infection in humans but may develop into a deadly neuroinvasive disease. In this study, we aimed to investigate variables potentially associated with human WNV infection using human and mosquito WNV surveillance and monitoring datasets, established over 20 years, from 2003 to 2022, across the province of Ontario, Canada. We combined climatic and geographic data, mosquito surveillance data (n = 3010 sites), blood donation arboviral detection testing data in the human population, and demographic and socio-economic data from Canadian population censuses.

In the last decade, pulmonary fungal infections such as invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) have increased in incidence due to the increased number of immunocompromised individuals. This increase is especially problematic when considering mortality rates associated with IPA are upwards of 70%. Methods: In this phase 3 study (NCT04707391), healthy participants aged 15-25 years, who had received MenACWY vaccination ≥4 years previously, were randomized (1:1) to receive two MenABCWY doses six months apart or one MenACWY-CRM dose.
