Study Design: Retrospective descriptive study of 110 endometrial biopsies from women treated for fertility problems at a tertiary hospital from 2021 through 2022. Results were compared between women with and without chronic endometritis.

Methods: A descriptive, observational, and prospective multicenter study was carried out in Guayaquil, Ecuador. All patients with carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales admitted between December 2021 and May 2022 were enrolled.

This study analyzed the epidemiology and antibiotic susceptibility profile of significant bacteriuria and assessed the impact of adopting EUCAST criteria on antibiotic resistances. A systematic review was performed on publications in English or Spanish between 1 January 2010 and 30 June 2021 on the susceptibility of Gram-positive bacteria isolated in urinary samples in Europe. A retrospective descriptive study was also conducted on the results of 21,838 urine cultures with presumptive urinary tract infection (UTI) obtained during the past five years by the Department of Microbiology of the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital (Granada, Spain).

Background: In low- and middle-income countries, the use of colistin in therapeutic regimens is common, to treat infections produced for Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE) due to limited access to the recently discovered-approved antibiotics. Furthermore, the technical limitations to perform colistin susceptibility tests make it difficult to assess the suitability of this treatment for each patient, as well as to monitor the rates of resistance. In the present study, we describe the use of agar dilution using a unique colistin concentration of 3 μg/ml to discriminate isolates with colistin resistance in CPE obtained from clinical samples.

The increasing resistance to antibiotics is compromising the empirical treatment of infections caused by resistant bacteria. Rapid, efficient, and clinically applicable phenotypic methods are needed for their detection. This study examines the phenotypic behavior of β-lactam-resistant Gram-negative bacteria grown on ChromID ESBL medium with ertapenem, cefoxitin, and cefepime disks, reports on the coloration of colonies, and establishes a halo diameter breakpoint for the detection of carbapenemase-producing bacteria.

The objective of the study was to evaluate the capacity of GERH-derived local resistance maps (LRMs) to predict antibiotic susceptibility profiles and recommend the appropriate empirical treatment for ICU patients with nosocomial infection. Data gathered between 2007 and 2016 were retrospectively studied to compare susceptibility information from antibiograms of microorganisms isolated in blood cultures, lower respiratory tract samples, and urine samples from all ICU patients meeting clinical criteria for infection with the susceptibility mapped by LRMs for these bacterial species. Susceptibility described by LRMs was concordant with in vitro study results in 73.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the antibacterial activity of two compounds derived from , PTS (propyl-propane-thiosulfinate), and PTSO (propyl-propane-thiosulfonate), with that of other antibiotics commonly used against bacteria isolated from humans.
Materials And Methods: A total of 212 gram-negative bacilli and 267 gram-positive cocci isolated from human clinical samples and resistant to at least one group of antibiotics were selected. In order to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) to various antibiotics as well as PTS and PTSO, all isolates underwent broth microdilution assay.
