Are multidisciplinary journals truly multidisciplinary, and, how has the multidisciplinary character of these journals evolved over the long term? Here, we assess these questions by analyzing data from the Journal Citation Reports. We examined 983,246 articles and reviews published between 1980 and 2021 in 127 journals categorized under 'Multidisciplinary Sciences'. We found that the representation of the main branches of knowledge in multidisciplinary journals was uneven and, in general, not proportional to the global research effort dedicated to each branch.

Biologically mediated nanoparticle (NP) synthesis offers a reliable and sustainable alternative route for metal NP production. Compared with conventional chemical and physical production methods that require hazardous materials and considerable energy expenditure, some microorganisms can reduce metal ions into NPs during standard metabolic processes. However, to be considered a feasible commercial option, the properties and inherent activity of bio-NPs still need to be significantly improved.

, the rat lungworm, is a zoonotic parasite mainly of rats which act as definitive hosts. If humans become accidentally infected, the nematode is capable of migrating to the brain causing meningoencephalitis. Intermediate hosts are snails and slugs.

Introduction: The new European Medical Device Regulation has raised the bar for the clinical evaluation of medical devices to gain marketing authorization by Notified Bodies (NBs) regarding certificates of conformity in Europe. Restrictions applied for High-risk medical devices (HRMD) may require further evidence generation. Some other jurisdictions apply similar schemes that may be useful to the European Union.

Objectives: The synergy between arm and shoulder muscles, along with isometric finger flexor strength, are crucial for climbing proficiency. However, tests often assess these factors separately rather than in a unified action. This study aimed to determine the intra- and inter-session reliability of the mean propulsive velocity (MPV) during pull-ups on a large hold and on small climbing edges.

Introduction: Photobiomodulation (PBM) with low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is a non-invasive method for accelerating orthodontic tooth movement (OTM). Several systematic reviews (SRs) have assessed the effectiveness of LLLT on OTM acceleration. However, the interpretations and analysis of the findings of these SRs are inconclusive and inconsistent due to the substantial heterogeneity of their results, mainly due to the wide variety of parameters employed in the primary studies.

Background: Moderna, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca SARS-CoV-2 vaccines for preventing COVID-19 have regulatory approval in most countries. We conducted a network meta-analysis to compare their effectiveness.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), ICTRP, and Clinicaltrials.

Background: Stability during early postnatal life in preterm infants is related to better outcomes. Although vital signs are monitored continuously in Neonatal Intensive Care Unites, this monitoring does not include all physiological parameters nor data such as movement patterns. Although there are scattered sources of data, there is no centralized data hub for neonates information.

Background: The use of surveillance technologies is becoming increasingly common in inpatient mental health settings, commonly justified as efforts to improve safety and cost-effectiveness. However, their use has been questioned in light of limited research conducted and the sensitivities, ethical concerns and potential harms of surveillance. This systematic review aims to (1) map how surveillance technologies have been employed in inpatient mental health settings, (2) explore how they are experienced by patients, staff and carers and (3) examine evidence regarding their impact.

The HEALTHYBACK trial is based on a multimodal intervention to determine the effectiveness of a supervised physical exercise, mindfulness, behaviour change and pain neuroscience education programme on several health variables in individuals with chronic primary low back pain (CPLBP). The study will be a randomised controlled trial among 70 individuals diagnosed with CPLBP (aged 18-65 years). The intervention will be conducted in person within a hospital setting for 16 weeks and comprises a first phase (16 sessions supervised physical exercise (2 days/week, 45 min/session), mindfulness (1 day/week, 2.

The thermodynamically controlled self-assembly of bis-bidentate quaterpyridine ligand, L = 2,2':5',5″:2″,2‴-quaterpyridine, with Cr and subsequent oxidation to Cr yields the first photoluminescent tetrahedral [CrL] molecular cage. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals the presence of two homochiral cages (ΛΛΛΛ and ΔΔΔΔ) in the unit cell that crystallize as a racemic mixture. Additionally, a PF anion is observed inside the cavity, in line with isostructural cages built with Ni or Fe.

The European wildcat (Felis silvestris), particularly its Iberian lineage, is experiencing an important population decline due to various threats. For this reason, we started in 2017 an intensive monitoring of a population of this species in southeastern Spain. To determine their physiological status, we conducted health checks on wildcats during 2017-2023.

Gestational Age (GA) at birth plays a crucial role in identifying potential vulnerabilities to long-term difficulties in cognitive and behavioral development. The present study aims to explore the influence of gestational age on the efficiency of early visual attention orienting, as a potential marker for the development of specific high-level socio-cognitive skills. We administered the Gap-Overlap task to measure the attentional orienting and disengagement performance of 16-month-olds born between the 34th and 41st weeks of gestation.

Background: In the realm of emotion detection, comfort and portability play crucial roles in enhancing user experiences. However, few works study the reduction in the number of electrodes used to detect emotions, and none of them compare the location of these electrodes with a commercial low-cost headband.
Methods: This work explores the potential of wearable EEG devices, specifically the Muse S headband, for emotion classification in terms of valence and arousal.

Background/objectives: Olive oil is valued for its health benefits, largely due to its bioactive compounds, including hydroxytyrosol (HTyr) and oleuropein (OLE), which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective properties. However, many of these compounds are lost during the production process. This study developed a functional olive oil-derived product using water-in-oil emulsions (W/O) to incorporate commercial extracts rich in HTyr and OLE.
