The title compound, [Cu(CHO)(CHN)], crystallizes in the ortho-rhom-bic space group . In the crystal structure, the Cu ion is coordinated by two acetyl-acetonate ligands and one 2-amino-1-methyl-1-benzimidazole ligand. The crystal structure features intra-molecular N-H⋯O and inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which contribute to the overall cohesion of the crystal.

The asymmetric unit of the title salt, CHN ·CHOS, comprises two 1,3-di-hydro-2-benzimidazol-2-iminium cations and two 2-hy-droxy-5-sulfobenzoate anions (' = 2). In the crystal, the mol-ecules inter-act through N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-O⋯π contacts. The hydrogen-bonding inter-actions lead to the formation of layers parallel to (01).

Uzbekistan (Central Asia) is experiencing serious water stress as a consequence of altered climate regime, past over-exploitation, and dependence from neighboring countries for water supply. The Chirchik-Akhangaran drainage basin, in the Tashkent province of Uzbekistan, includes watersheds from the Middle Tien Shan Mountains escarpments and the downstream floodplain of the Chirchik and Akhangaran rivers, major tributaries of the Syrdarya river. Water in the Chirchik-Akhangaran basin is facing potential anthropogenic pressure from different sources at the scale of river reaches, from both industrial and agricultural activities.

The title compound, CHBrNO, was synthesized by a CuBr-catalysed Meldal-Sharpless reaction between 4-nitro-phen-oxy-acetic acid propargyl ether and -bromo-phenyl-azide, and characterized by X-ray structure determination and H NMR spectroscopy. The mol-ecules, with a near-perpendicular orientation of the bromo-phenyl-triazole and nitro-phen-oxy-acetate fragments, are connected into a three-dimensional network by inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds (confirmed by Hirshfeld surface analysis), π-π and Br-π inter-actions.

The structure of polymeric -poly[2-amino-benzimidazolium [[dioxidovanadium(V)]-μ-oxido]], {(CHN)[VO]} , has monoclinic symmetry. The title compound is of inter-est with respect to anti-cancer activity. In the crystal structure, infinite linear zigzag vanadate (VO) chains, constructed from corner-sharing VO tetra-hedra and that run parallel to the axis, are present.

Spatial and, for the first time, temporal variations in stream water pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, and nitrate and phosphate concentrations are presented for four catchments (485-13,500 km), all with glaciers and major urban areas. The catchments studied were: Kaskelen (Kazakhstan), Ala-Archa (Kyrgyzstan), Chirchik (Uzbekistan) and the Kofarnihon (Tajikistan).
