The question of whether males or females are the more variable sex is long-standing, and yet to be fully answered. We investigate the relationships between body mass and variation across species using a phylogenetically informed analysis of the body mass of 337 species representing six mammalian orders. Within each order, we found that the larger sex is typically the more variable sex, whether male or female, and the variation-size relationship is arguably often close to unity.

Background: C3 glomerulopathy is a rare clinical entity characterized by dysregulation of the alternative complement pathway in glomerular disease. Studies defining the natural history of C3G in the pediatric population are scarce.
Methods: Patients included in this retrospective study were diagnosed between 2011 and 2020 in 12 European pediatric nephrology units.

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has recently enabled to identify four distinct Alzheimer's disease (AD) subtypes: hippocampal sparing (HpSp), typical AD (tAD), limbic predominant (Lp), and minimal atrophy (MinAtr). To date, however, the natural history of these subtypes, especially regarding the presence of subjects switching to other MRI patterns and their clinical and biological differences, remains poorly understood.
Objective: To investigate the clinical and biological underpinnings of longitudinal atrophy pattern progression in AD.

Background: Social media has revolutionized the way healthcare professionals communicate with the public, particularly in Pediatrics. With over 5 billion users globally, platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok have become increasingly popular even among caregivers in recent years. These channels offer unique opportunities to improve public health education, allowing pediatricians to reach a wide audience with evidence-based content.

Freezing of gait (FOG) in Parkinson's disease (PD) can be triggered by sensomotor, cognitive or limbic factors. The limbic system's impact on FOG is attributed to elevated limbic load, characterized by aversive stimuli, potentially depleting cognitive resources for movement control, resulting in FOG episodes. However, to date, PD patients with and without FOG have not shown alterations of anticipatory postural adjustments during gait initiation after exposure to emotional images, possibly because visual stimuli are less immediately disruptive than auditory stimuli, which can more directly affect attention and the limbic system.

Objective: Cognitive impairment affects approximately 30% of pediatric onset Multiple Sclerosis (POMS) patients with a negative impact on everyday life. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of a home-based, computer-assisted training of attention in patients with POMS.
Methods: This was a randomized double-blind study.

Objectives: A post hoc analysis used pooled STRIVE/ReSTORE trial data to determine outcomes with rezafungin versus caspofungin by Candida species and antifungal susceptibility.
Methods: The efficacy and safety of once weekly rezafungin 400/200 mg versus once daily caspofungin 70/50 mg was demonstrated in the randomized, double-blind phase 2 STRIVE (NCT02734862) and phase 3 ReSTORE (NCT03667690) trials involving adults with candidaemia and/or invasive candidiasis. In this analysis, data were pooled for patients with a documented Candida infection within 96 hours of randomization who also received ≥1 dose of study drug.

BRAF p.V600E exon 15 hotspot mutation can identify a molecular subgroup of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients exhibiting poor prognosis under the conventional chemotherapy regimen. Recently, the chemotherapy-free combination of encorafenib and cetuximab has been approved as the standard of care for previously treated BRAF p.

Long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMA) in association with inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) plus long-acting beta-2 agonists (LABA) are recommended by the GINA report as further option in step 4 and first choice in step 5 treatment. Despite consistent evidence of its efficacy and safety, inhaled triple therapy (ITT) is still not largely used in patients with asthma. With the aim to explore belief and behaviours of asthma specialists, an ad hoc survey has been developed by a panel of Interasma Scientific Network (INESnet) experts and subsequently defined by two Delphi rounds among an international group of physicians.

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) is an oral DMT approved for treating relapsing MS. This analysis evaluated the safety, efficacy, and immunophenotype changes of DMF in patients ≥ 50 years compared with patients < 50 years.

Background: Influenza can be associated with nonrespiratory disease presentation, but these are less well documented due to the lack of routine testing for influenza in the healthcare system, especially if patients do not present with influenza-like illness (ILI). We aimed to measure the proportion of influenza cases seeking care at emergency department (ED) for a nontraumatic cause, to describe their clinical presentation and their ED-discharge diagnosis.
Methods: The study was conducted at seven hospitals in France, Spain, Italy and Germany during the 2019-20 influenza season, for a period of 10 weeks.

Purpose: To identify baseline OCT predictors of the 3-year macular atrophy (MA) development for type 3 (T3) macular neovascularization (MNV) secondary to neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) treated by anti-VEGF therapy.
Design: Multicenter, retrospective, longitudinal study.
Participants: We included patients with treatment-naive T3 MNV secondary to nAMD at baseline, treated with anti-VEGF during a 3-year follow-up.
