In the field of cancer care, it is still difficult to say that advance care planning(ACP)has been fully integrated, and the perceptions of ACP vary depending on the individual's role. Since oncologists have a deeper understanding of the patient's condition and prognosis than the patients themselves, they are often the first to recognize the future need for ACP. It is important to gather and incorporate patients' preferences and relevant information regarding ACP early in the course of daily cancer treatment.

Background: The impact of below-the-knee (BK) runoff after drug-coated balloon (DCB) treatment in femoropopliteal (FP) lesions has not been well investigated.
Methods: This retrospective multicenter observational study enrolled 291 consecutive patients with lower extremity artery disease who underwent endovascular therapy with DCBs for FP lesions between January 2018 and December 2021. Patients were classified into four groups based on the BK runoff.

The mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor (MET) Y1003 mutation, like MET ex14 skipping, is an oncogenic driver mutation that suppresses MET degradation. Herein, we report the case of a 63-year-old female patient with lung adenocarcinoma harboring the MET Y1003N mutation, who was treated with tepotinib, a selective type 1b MET tyrosine kinase inhibitor. To the best of our knowledge, no such cases have been reported.

Background: Disparities in public assistance or the urbanization level of a residential region can affect cancer treatment outcomes. This study aimed to investigate whether these factors affect the overall survival (OS) of patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using Tokushukai REAL World Data.
Methods: We analyzed the clinical data of consecutive patients with NSCLC receiving EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors between April 2010 and March 2020 at 46 Tokushukai Medical Group hospitals in Japan.

The National Early Warning Score (NEWS), Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA), and modified qSOFA (MqSOFA) are scoring systems that rely on vital signs. However, NEWS is time-consuming, qSOFA has low sensitivity, and MqSOFA includes a difficult calculation. To address these issues, we developed the Revised qSOFA score (RqSOFA) that consists of percutaneous oxygen saturation, oxygen usage, Simple Shock Index, and the parameters of qSOFA.

Background: Body lateropulsion (BL) is a phenomenon in which the body involuntarily falls to one side; however, its detailed postural control characteristics remain unclear.
Objective: This case report aimed to measure the surface electromyography (EMG) of the lower limbs while standing in a patient with severe BL on the affected side due to pontine infarction and to investigate the characteristics of postural control.
Case Description: We evaluated a patient with severe BL due to pontine infarction at two-time points, 6 and 20 days after onset, to assess static standing balance under open and closed eye conditions and measure the center of pressure (COP) and lower extremity EMG during these tasks.

Allergen-specific antibodies (Abs), IgE, and IgG4 increase during the early phase of oral immunotherapy (OIT) of allergen food in patients; subsequently, IgE levels decrease and specific IgG4 levels increase after successful OIT treatment. The detailed profile of these Abs during OIT remains largely unclear. We developed a diagnostic tool to assess the OIT efficacy and extent of responsiveness based on a profiling method by identifying epitopes recognized by the Ab classes of IgE or IgG4.

Background/objectives: Lipid metabolism and adiponectin modulate erythropoiesis in vitro and in general population studies and may also affect responsiveness to erythropoietin in patients undergoing haemodialysis (HD). However, little is known about the impact of lipid-associated biomarkers on reticulocyte production and erythropoietin resistance index (ERI) in patients undergoing HD. Therefore, we aimed to investigate their impacts in 167 stable patients undergoing HD.

In addition to blood test data, inflammation-based prognostic markers have been used to predict the prognosis of various types of cancer. However, several of these previous studies may be outdated, as they were conducted prior to the widespread adoption of immune checkpoint inhibitors, leading to limited reports on their efficacy. The present study aimed to assess the accuracy of different inflammation-based prognostic markers in patients with advanced or recurrent gastric cancer undergoing nivolumab monotherapy as salvage-line chemotherapy.

Purpose: Ramucirumab (RAM) is recommended as premedication with H-receptor antagonists (HRA) to prevent infusion-related reactions (IRRs). However, RAM is a human antibody with a low incidence of IRRs. We evaluated the noninferiority of non-HRA (dexamethasone [DEX] alone) premedication to HRA (plus DEX) premedication in terms of IRRs in patients with gastric cancer receiving RAM plus nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel (nab-PTX).
