Background: Vaccine protection against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection reduces gradually over time, requiring administration of updated boosters. However, long-term immune response following up to the sixth dose of the messenger RNA vaccine has not been well studied.
Case Presentation: We longitudinally determined anti-spike protein immunoglobulin G antibody levels in a 69-year-old Japanese man 76 times (first to sixth dose) to investigate their dynamics.

Background: Several methods can be used to intraoperatively identify pulmonary lesion using radiation technology. However, little is known about patient radiation exposure during chest surgery. We aimed to measure patients' radiation exposure from cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) used in a hybrid operating room.

Background: Type 2 autoimmune pancreatitis is characterized by multiple or segmental strictures of the main pancreatic duct without upstream dilatation. We encountered a case of mass-forming type 2 autoimmune pancreatitis with upstream main pancreatic duct dilatation that was difficult to diagnose preoperatively using endoscopic ultrasound sonography-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology.
Case Presentation: A 58-year-old Japanese man presented with recurrent acute pancreatitis secondary to a 10-mm pancreatic head tumor.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of androgen receptor signaling inhibitors (ARSIs) combined with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for treating castration-sensitive metastatic prostate cancer in Japanese patients, focusing on the effects on time to the development of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) and overall survival (OS).
Methods: This retrospective muti-institutional analysis included 332 patients diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in Japan between 2018 and 2023. The patients were categorized into two groups: patients receiving ADT combined with ARSI (ARSI group) and those receiving ADT alone or with bicalutamide (ADT group).

Recent studies focusing on neural activity captured by neuroimaging modalities have provided various metrics for elucidating the functional networks and dynamics of the entire brain. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) can depict spatiotemporal functional neural networks and dynamic characteristics due to its excellent spatial resolution. However, its temporal resolution is limited.

HM-SCREEN-Japan is a multicenter collaborative project in Japan to evaluate the clinical utility of a cancer genome panel in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The HM-SCREEN-JAPAN02 study used the Amoy Myeloid Panel with the HANDLE system, which enables efficient and rapid sequencing, as the genomic testing kit. The Amoy Myeloid Panel targets 53 genes with established clinical significance or high prevalence.

The mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor (MET) Y1003 mutation, like MET ex14 skipping, is an oncogenic driver mutation that suppresses MET degradation. Herein, we report the case of a 63-year-old female patient with lung adenocarcinoma harboring the MET Y1003N mutation, who was treated with tepotinib, a selective type 1b MET tyrosine kinase inhibitor. To the best of our knowledge, no such cases have been reported.

Distancing involves changing perspectives to alter the psychological distance from stimuli that elicit emotional reactions as a tactic to regulate emotions. Using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and functional magnetic resonance imaging, this study aimed to examine 1) whether the neural correlates of emotion upregulation via distancing differ across emotional valence (i.e.

Background: Disparities in public assistance or the urbanization level of a residential region can affect cancer treatment outcomes. This study aimed to investigate whether these factors affect the overall survival (OS) of patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using Tokushukai REAL World Data.
Methods: We analyzed the clinical data of consecutive patients with NSCLC receiving EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors between April 2010 and March 2020 at 46 Tokushukai Medical Group hospitals in Japan.

Introduction: Preoperative estimations of blood loss are important when planning surgery for cervical spine injuries in older adults. The association between ankylosis and blood loss in perioperative management is of particular interest. This multicenter database review aimed to evaluate the impact of ankylosis on surgical blood loss volume in elderly patients with cervical spine injury.

Background: Subacute cough is subdivided and distinguished from chronic cough, because post-infectious cough is considered to be the main cause of subacute cough and differs from acute and chronic cough. However, the details of the spectrum and frequency of causes of subacute cough remain unclear because only two studies on subacute cough have been published.
Methods: Patients who presented with cough that lasted for 3-8 weeks and visited respiratory clinics or hospitals affiliated with the Japan Cough Society during 2 years were studied.

The opioid system plays crucial roles in modulating social behaviors in both humans and animals. However, the pharmacological profiles of opioids regarding social behavior and their therapeutic potential remain unclear. Multiple pharmacological, behavioral, and immunohistological c-Fos mapping approaches were used to characterize the effects of μ-opioid receptor agonists on social behavior and investigate the mechanisms in naive mice and autism spectrum disorder-like (ASD-like) mouse models, such as prenatally valproic acid-treated mice and Fmr1-KO mice.

The National Early Warning Score (NEWS), Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA), and modified qSOFA (MqSOFA) are scoring systems that rely on vital signs. However, NEWS is time-consuming, qSOFA has low sensitivity, and MqSOFA includes a difficult calculation. To address these issues, we developed the Revised qSOFA score (RqSOFA) that consists of percutaneous oxygen saturation, oxygen usage, Simple Shock Index, and the parameters of qSOFA.
