Introduction: Hypothermic ex-situ machine perfusion (MP) has been shown to be a promising alternative to static cold storage (SCS) for preservation of solid organs for transplantation and vascularized composite allotransplantation. Perfusion with blood-based perfusion solutions in austere environments is problematic due to their need for appropriate storage and short shelf life, making it impractical for military and emergency use. Acellular perfusion has been shown to be effective, but the ideal perfusate solution for MP of amputated limbs is yet to be determined.

The blood supply of peripheral nerves consists of a complex internal vessels' network, feeding external vessels and the interlinking vasa nervorum. Patients with nerve damage may require nerve substitution. While the commonly performed avascular nerve grafts obtain vascularization only from random and slow inosculation into the vasa nervorum, their insufficient revascularization causes loss of the graft's potential due to central necrosis.

In patients with CSF rhinorrhea, accurate identification of the CSF leakage site is crucial for surgical planning. We describe the application of a novel gadolinium-enhanced high-resolution 3D compressed-sensing T1 SPACE technique for MR cisternography and compare findings with CT cisternography and intraoperative results. In our pilot experience with 7 patients, precise detection of CSF leaks was feasible using compressed-sensing T1 SPACE, which appeared to be superior to CT cisternography.

Social determinants of health, including poverty, contribute significantly to health outcomes in the United States; however, their impact on pediatric hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) outcomes is poorly understood. We aimed to identify the association between neighborhood poverty and HCT outcomes for pediatric allogeneic HCT recipients in the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research database. We assembled 2 pediatric cohorts undergoing first allogeneic HCT from 2006 to 2015 at age ≤18 years, including 2053 children with malignant disease and 1696 children with nonmalignant disease.

Voxel-based principal-component analysis allows for an identification of patterns of glucose metabolism and amyloid deposition related to the conversion from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to Alzheimer disease (AD). Three hundred and seven extracted human teeth with one root canal were infected with for 72 h and treated in groups: IPA irrigation; PACT; PACT and final rinse with IPA; PACT with photosensitizer removal using either 0.9% NaCl solution or sterile paper points or both; PACT using IPA-based photosensitizer with and without a final rinse of IPA.

Purpose: We recently developed a chelating platform based on the macrocycle 1,4,7-triazacyclononane with up to three five-membered azaheterocyclic arms for the preparation of Ga- and Cu-based radiopharmaceuticals. Based on this platform, the chelator scaffold NOTI-TVA with three additional carboxylic acid groups for bioconjugation was synthesized and characterized. The primary aims of this proof-of-concept study were (1) to evaluate if trimeric radiotracers on the basis of the NOTI-TVA 6 scaffold can be developed, (2) to determine if the additional substituents for bioconjugation at the non-coordinating NH atoms of the imidazole residues of the building block NOTI influence the metal binding properties, and (3) what influence multiple targeting vectors have on the biological performance of the radiotracer.
