Objectives: To identify potential differences in 2-year outcome between patients who underwent coronary revascularization using bioresorbable vascular scafffolds (BVS) in stable coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).
Background: Data from randomized trials suggest a significantly higher event rate following coronary revascularization using everolimus-eluting BVS as compared to new generation drug eluting stents. Whether particular patient subgroups are at increased risk for scaffold thrombosis and target lesion failure (TLF) has not clearly been demonstrated.

There is a lack of understanding in the cardiac remodeling field regarding the use of nonreperfused myocardial infarction (MI) and reperfused MI in animal models of MI. This Perspectives summarizes the consensus of the authors regarding how to select the optimum model for your experiments and is a part of ongoing efforts to establish rigor and reproducibility in cardiac physiology research.

Objectives: Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) has been established as an important imaging method in cardiac ablation procedures. In pulmonary vein (PV) isolation procedures, MRA has the potential to minimize the risk of severe complications, such as atrio-esophageal fistula, by providing detailed information on esophageal position relatively to cardiac structures. However, traditional non-gated, first-pass (FP) MRA approaches have several limitations, such as long breath-holds, non-uniform signal intensity throughout the left atrium (LA), and poor esophageal visualization.

Background And Objective: There is no agreement on the gold standard for detection and grading of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neurotoxicity (CIPN) in clinical trials. The objective is to perform an observational prospective study to assess and compare patient-based and physician-based methods for detection and grading of CIPN.
Methods: Consecutive patients, aged 18 years or older, candidates for neurotoxic chemotherapy, were enrolled in the United States, European Union, or Australia.

TRIP4 is one of the subunits of the transcriptional coregulator ASC-1, a ribonucleoprotein complex that participates in transcriptional coactivation and RNA processing events. Recessive variants in the TRIP4 gene have been associated with spinal muscular atrophy with bone fractures as well as a severe form of congenital muscular dystrophy. Here we present the diagnostic journey of a patient with cerebellar hypoplasia and spinal muscular atrophy (PCH1) and congenital bone fractures.

Allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) remains the only curative approach in myelofibrosis (MF). Despite advances over recent decades, relapse and non-relapse mortality rates remain significant. Relapse rates vary between 15 and 25% across retrospective studies and management strategies vary widely, ranging from palliation to adoptive immunotherapy and, in some cases, a second allo-HCT.

Ewing sarcoma, a highly aggressive bone and soft-tissue cancer, is considered a prime example of the paradigms of a translocation-positive sarcoma: a genetically rather simple disease with a specific and neomorphic-potential therapeutic target, whose oncogenic role was irrefutably defined decades ago. This is a disease that by definition has micrometastatic disease at diagnosis and a dismal prognosis for patients with macrometastatic or recurrent disease. International collaborations have defined the current standard of care in prospective studies, delivering multiple cycles of systemic therapy combined with local treatment; both are associated with significant morbidity that may result in strong psychological and physical burden for survivors.

Ischemic post-conditioning (iPoCo) by coronary re-occlusion/reperfusion during immediate reperfusion after prolonged myocardial ischemia reduces infarct size. Mechanical manipulation of culprit lesions, however, carries the risk of coronary microembolization which may obscure iPoCo's cardioprotection. Pharmacological post-conditioning with exogenous triiodothyronine (T3) could serve as an alternative conditioning strategy.

Background: Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is the most common neurodegenerative disease in childhood. Since motor neuron injury is usually not reversible, early diagnosis and treatment are essential to prevent major disability. Our objective was to assess the impact of genetic newborn screening for SMA on outcome.

Introduction: Sentinel lymph node dissection is widely used in the staging of endometrial cancer. Variation in surgical techniques potentially impacts diagnostic accuracy and oncologic outcomes, and poses barriers to the comparison of outcomes across institutions or clinical trial sites. Standardization of surgical technique and surgical quality assessment tools are critical to the conduct of clinical trials.

Background: Data supporting decision-making regarding cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in German nursing homes is insufficient.
Methods: A retrospective evaluation of pre-hospital CPR was carried out with data from the German Resuscitation Registry (Deutsches Reanimationsregister) for the years 2011-2018. Patients under age 65 were excluded, as were patients from districts in which long-term data was available for less than 60% of patients.

Objective: To study the impact of the quality of therapeutic control on fertility and on the prevalence of testicular adrenal rest tumours (TART) in young males with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).
Design: Combined cross-sectional and retrospective clinical study.
Methods: Twenty-nine patients and age-matched controls underwent clinical investigation, including semen analysis, testicular and adrenal ultrasound imaging, and serum and hair steroid analysis.

Background: Pemphigoid diseases are a heterogeneous group of autoimmune blistering disorders characterized by predominant deposition of immunoglobulin G or immunoglobulin A autoantibodies against structural proteins of the dermoepidermal junction (DEJ). Sole linear immunoglobulin M (IgM) deposits at the DEJ in pemphigoid diseases have been observed; however, IgM-specific target antigens have not been identified.
Objective: Characterization of patients with IgM pemphigoid.

Purpose: We aimed to compare treatment results in and outside of a randomized trial and to confirm factors influencing outcome in a large retrospective cohort of nonmetastatic medulloblastoma treated in Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
Methods And Materials: Patients with nonmetastatic medulloblastoma (n = 382) aged 4 to 21 years and primary neurosurgical resection between 2001 and 2011 were assessed. Between 2001 and 2006, 176 of these patients (46.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic dramatically disrupts health care around the globe. The impact of the pandemic on chronic urticaria (CU) and its management are largely unknown.
Aim: To understand how CU patients are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; how specialists alter CU patient management; and the course of CU in patients with COVID-19.

Purpose: Several studies have demonstrated the negative impact of radiotherapy protocol deviations on tumor control in medulloblastoma. In the SIOP PNET5 MB trial, a pretreatment radiotherapy quality control (RT-QC) program was introduced. A first analysis for patients enrolled in Germany, Switzerland and Austria with focus on types of deviations in the initial plan proposals and review criteria for modern radiation technologies was performed.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to ascertain and quantify the differences between swept-source (SS) and spectral-domain (SD) optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) imaging of macular neovascularizations (MNV) in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD).
Patients And Methods: SD-OCTA (RTVue Avanti) and SS-OCTA (PLEX Elite 9000) were performed in 37 patients with MNV in nAMD. The MNV was delineated and the data were processed via ImageJ.
