Background: The pandemic caused by the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) has affected the mental health of the general population, leading to an increase in depression, anxiety and stress. The results of the studies on the psychological effects of the pandemic in patients with psychiatric illnesses were contradictory in that some reported higher adverse effects in patients with psychiatric illnesses compared to the healthy control subjects, whereas some did not. Thus, the aim of this study is to compare the patients with a diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder and the healthy control subjects in terms of certain psychological parameters during the pandemic period.

Objective: The number of studies conducted on the evaluation of retinal microvascularity in patients with Bipolar Disorder (BD) is very few. Therefore, in the present study it was aimed to provide a significant diagnostic support and to better understand the relationship between BD and vascular changes by making vascular measurements with Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA).

Method: The statistical analysis was performed by comparing OCTA measurements of 48 eyes of 48 euthymic patients followed up with a diagnosis of BD and in remission for at least 6 months, and 45 eyes of 45 age-matched healthy volunteers in the control group.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how levofloxacin is processed in sheep, both on its own and alongside two other medications, tolfenamic acid and flunixin meglumine, after being given through an IV.
  • Researchers measured plasma levels of levofloxacin and assessed its pharmacokinetic parameters, like how quickly it spreads and clears from the body.
  • Results showed that when combined with the other drugs, levofloxacin's elimination was slowed down, suggesting it could be effectively used in treating infections and inflammation in sheep with adjusted dosages.

Acute exposure to high doses of glucocorticoids (GCs) may potentially increase the basal levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by altering the defence capacity against oxidative damage. Also, antioxidants may affect the oxidative breakdown of tissues. Therefore, the aim of this work was to determine the effects of dietary intake vitamin E and selenium (Se) on lipid peroxidation (LPO) as thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and on the antioxidative defence mechanisms in the brain of rats treated with high doses of prednisolone.
