Design of optimal concentrations for in vitro cytotoxicity experiments.

Concentration-dependent cytotoxicity experiments are frequently used in toxicology. Although it has been reported that an adequate choice of concentrations improves the quality of the statistical inference substantially, a recent literature review of three major toxicological journals has shown that the corresponding methods are rarely used in toxicological practice. In this study the performance of different sets of concentrations, also called designs, are analyzed, while the overall goal is to promote the advantages of optimal design procedures and to present a user-friendly guideline for planning new cytotoxicity concentration-response experiments.

In this paper, we demonstrate the successful implementation of reconfigurable field-programmable gate array technology into a pulse-resolved data acquisition system to achieve a femtosecond temporal resolution in ultrafast pump-probe experiments in real-time at large scale facilities. As proof of concept, electro-optic sampling of terahertz waveforms radiated by a superradiant emitter of a quasi-cw accelerator operating at a 50 kHz repetition rate and probed by an external laser system is performed. Options for up-scaling the developed technique to a MHz range of repetition rates are discussed.

This dataset consists of 64-channels resting-state EEG recordings of 608 participants aged between 20 and 70 years, 61.8% female, as well as follow-up measurements after approximately 5 years of 208 participants, starting 2021. Manipulating the polarization of light at the nanoscale is key to the development of next-generation optoelectronic devices. This is typically done via waveplates using optically anisotropic crystals, with thicknesses on the order of the wavelength. Here, using a novel ultrafast electron-beam-based technique sensitive to transient near fields at THz frequencies, we observe a giant anisotropy in the linear optical response in the semimetal WTe and demonstrate that one can tune the THz polarization using a 50 nm thick film, acting as a broadband wave plate with thickness 3 orders of magnitude smaller than the wavelength.

Herein, we report the identification and characterization of epoxykynin, a potent inhibitor of the soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH). This communication presents a mathematical mechanism-based model of the regenerating liver after drug-induced pericentral lobule damage resolving tissue microarchitecture. The consequence of alternative hypotheses about the interplay of different cell types on regeneration was simulated. Regeneration dynamics has been quantified by the size of the damage-induced dead cell area, the hepatocyte density and the spatial-temporal profile of the different cell types.

Studying the spatiotemporal variation in vegetation net primary productivity (NPP) and exploring its influencing factors are of considerable practical significance for understanding the spatiotemporal variation in vegetation and for guiding ecological restoration and management projects based on local conditions. Based on MODIS NPP data, combined with in situ meteorological data, land use data, and vegetation type data, this study explores the spatiotemporal variation in different types of vegetation NPP in southwest China via the Mann-Kendall significance test and Theil-Sen Median slope estimator. It reveals the influencing factors of spatial differentiation of different types of vegetation NPP and the interaction between influencing factors in combination with stability analysis and Geo Detectors.
