Committed to our growing effort addressed toward the development of potent anti-breast cancer candidates, new 4-hydrazinylpyrimidine-5-carbonitriles featuring a morpholinyl or piperidinyl moiety at the position-2 and derivatized with various functionalities at the hydrazinyl group were designed through structure optimization, and their antiproliferative potency against two human breast cancer (BC) cell lines, relative to the reference drug 5-FU, was evaluated. Compounds showing remarkable cytotoxic activity versus the hormone dependent MCF-7 cell line (IC = 1.62 ± 0.

Efforts were directed on the design, synthesis and evaluation of the anticancer activity of some pyrimidine-based hydrazones against two breast cancer cell lines, MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231. Preliminary screening results revealed that some candidates scrutinized for their antiproliferative activities exhibited IC values of 0.87 μM-12.

Novel anti-proliferative agents possessing pyrimidine scaffolds were designed, synthesized and evaluated for their IC values using MTT assay. Most compounds displayed good to excellent activity against the two tested breast cancer lines (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231) as compared to 5-FU. The observed IC values for active compounds ranged from 0.

Carbon nano-onions (CNOs), metal-organic frameworks (MOF-199), and carbon nano-onion embedded metal-organic frameworks (CMOF-199) were synthesized from garlic peels as a green source of carbon atoms while MOF-199 was prepared by solvothermal interaction between 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid and copper nitrate trihydrate. All the prepared solid materials were characterized by nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherm, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), point of zero charge (pH), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Adsorption of cadmium ions from aqueous solution was investigated onto all prepared solid materials considering different application conditions such as adsorbent dosage, pH, contact time, initial concentration of Cd, and temperature.

Chitosan/nanohydroxyapatite composite based scallop shells as an efficient adsorbent for mercuric ions: Static and dynamic adsorption studies.

Int J Biol Macromol

April 2018

Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology, Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice, Czech Republic.

Chitosan/nanohydroxyapatite composites based on scallop shells (CP12, CP14 and CP21) were prepared with different chitosan: nanohydroxyapatite ratios (1:2, 1:4 and 2:1, respectively). Nanohydroxyapatite (P), chitosan(C) and their composites were characterized by means of TGA, XRD, N adsorption/desorption analysis, SEM, Zeta potential and FTIR. The BET surface area ranged between 189 and 512 m/g.

Thermomechanical Fractional Model of TEMHD Rotational Flow.

PLoS One

August 2017

Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, University of Damanhour, Damanhour, Egypt.

In this work, the fractional mathematical model of an unsteady rotational flow of Xanthan gum (XG) between two cylinders in the presence of a transverse magnetic field has been studied. This model consists of two fractional parameters α and β representing thermomechanical effects. The Laplace transform is used to obtain the numerical solutions.

The simultaneous determination of the structural isomers of cresol was carried out using UV spectrophotometry by applying the principle component regression (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS) regression methods. Different concentration levels of cresol isomers were determined in their mixtures by construction of a partial factorial calibration design at four levels. Both multivariate calibration models were constructed using the correlation between the concentration and absorbance data matrices in the spectral region 283-305 nm.
