Prior research has established that being a target of offline and online victimization might function as a significant risk factor that increases the likelihood of adolescents' involvement in cyberhate. Yet, relatively little is known about the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this relationship. To fill this important gap in knowledge, the present study aims to examine (1) whether excessive Internet use and contact with unknown people online act as sequential mediators in the relationship between overall victimization and youth's involvement in cyberhate; and (2) whether restrictive parental mediation has any role to play in moderating this relationship.

CLEC12B is a C-type lectin receptor involved in the inhibition of NKs-mediated cytotoxicity. We have previously shown that CLEC12B is predominantly expressed on melanocytes and inhibits melanin production and pigmentation as well as proliferation of melanoma. To date, the role of CLEC12B in skin immunity is unknown.

Research over the last decade has revealed that the normally pigmented skin of patients with vitiligo is not normal at all, as evidenced by alterations in cutaneous morphology and modifications in cellular and metabolic functions that ultimately drive immune activation against melanocytes. Furthermore, nonlesional skin is in a state of subclinical inflammation until triggered by internal and/or external exposomal events. Therefore, targeting early processes that drive immune dysregulation in normally pigmented skin may avoid or reduce melanocyte loss.

Treatments for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in young children (ages 0-6) should be adapted to their developmental characteristics: to their cognitive, social, and emotional abilities, to their specific trauma reactions and adjustments, and finally, to their degree of dependency on adults. Due to the lack of official recommendations for the treatment of PTSD in young children and considering the high prevalence of PTSD among this population, there is a growing need for targeted psychological interventions and psychotherapies for the youngest children with PTSD or posttraumatic symptoms. To provide an update on effective psychological interventions available for the treatment of PTSD and posttraumatic symptoms in young children (under the age of 6).

Efficient flotation separation approach of apatite from calcite for phosphate up-grading using phosphorylated starch macromolecules as a selective depressant.

Carbohydr Polym

January 2025

Department of Chemical and Biochemical Sciences - Green Process Engineering (CBS), Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Ben Guerir, Morocco; Institute of Chemistry, Nice UMR7272, Côte d'Azur University, French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Nice, France. Electronic address:

Physico-chemical similarities of surface proprieties of calcite and apatite make their separation challenging. Effective flotation separation requires sustainable depressants to mitigate environmental consequences associated with traditional chemical reagents. Here, for the first time we explore the potential of phosphorylated starch (PS) derived from potato waste as a green and effective depressant.

Bad dream, nightmares and psychopathology: a systematic review.

Front Psychiatry

October 2024

Emotions, Neurocognition and Therapeutic Behavioral Approaches (ENACT) Team, University of Nîmes, Social Psychology Laboratory, Aix-Marseille University, Nîmes, France.

Objective: Bad dreams and nightmares can have a strong psychological impact. However, although the scientific literature points in the direction of an established association between nightmares and psychopathology, many of the studies investigating these links have been carried out on a general population. This systematic literature review aimed to identify studies that have used a sample from a population with a diagnosis of psychopathological disorders or a diagnosis of nightmare disorder, to highlight the state of knowledge concerning the link between bad dreams, nightmares, and psychopathology.

Background: Dendritic spines are tiny protrusions found along the dendrites of neurons, and their number is a measure of the density of synaptic connections. Altered density and morphology is observed in several pathologies, and spine formation as well as morphological changes correlate with learning and memory. The detection of spines in microscopy images and the analysis of their morphology is therefore a prerequisite for many studies.

The COVID-19 crisis may have deleterious effects on children's and adolescents' mental health. However, there have been no published studies in which the COVID-related stress symptoms were investigated in a French ordinary pediatric population. The main objective of this study was to examine virus threats and social distancing measures to determine which were more disturbing for children and adolescents, and which were better predictors of post traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS).

Subungual melanoma: molecular analysis of 31 cases from early stage to invasive melanoma.

Histopathology

January 2025

Institute for Research on Cancer and Aging of Nice (IRCAN) CNRS UMR 7284/INSERM U1081, University of Cote d'Azur (UCA), Nice University Hospital, Nice, France.

Article Synopsis
  • * ACGH showed promising results, identifying oncogene amplifications in the majority of invasive SUM cases and exhibited significantly higher sensitivity (93%) when melanocyte counts (MC) were greater than 45/mm.
  • * The findings suggest that aCGH is a valuable tool for differentiating between malignant and benign lesions, and should be utilized especially when MC is above the specified threshold, while NGS was found to be less informative.

Background: The use of metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) is not uniformly distributed within the population, even if it is governed by established guidelines. This disparity seems to be associated, among other factors, with the economic profile of people receiving this surgery.

Objectives: We investigated the disparities in the use of MBS with respect to the socio-economic level in France based on socio-economic status (SES).
