Global stroke statistics 2023: Availability of reperfusion services around the world.

Int J Stroke

March 2024

Stroke and Ageing Research, Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health, Monash University, Clayton, VIC, Australia.

Background: Disparities in the availability of reperfusion services for acute ischemic stroke are considerable globally and require urgent attention. Contemporary data on the availability of reperfusion services in different countries are used to provide the necessary evidence to prioritize where access to acute stroke treatment is needed.

Aims: To provide a snapshot of published literature on the provision of reperfusion services globally, including when facilitated by telemedicine or mobile stroke unit services.

Aim: The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) assesses the health-related quality of life of patients in cancer trials. There are currently no minimally important difference (MID) guidelines for the EORTC QLQ-C30 for colorectal cancer (CRC). This study aims to estimate MIDs for the EORTC QLQ-C30 scales in patients with advanced CRC treated with chemotherapy and enrolled in clinical trials.

Background: We aimed to estimate minimally important difference (MID) for interpreting group-level change over time for European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) scores in head and neck cancer.

Methods: Data were derived retrospectively from two published EORTC trials. Clinical anchors were selected using correlation strength and clinical plausibility of the given anchor/QLQ-C30 scale pair.

Moving forward toward standardizing analysis of quality of life data in randomized cancer clinical trials.

Clin Trials

December 2018

1 Quality of Life Department, European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), Brussels, Belgium.

Article Synopsis
  • There is currently a lack of agreement on how to analyze and interpret health-related quality of life and patient-reported outcomes in cancer clinical trials, complicating comparisons and the application of findings in healthcare settings.
  • The SISAQOL Consortium was formed to create standardized guidelines for analyzing these outcomes in cancer randomized controlled trials, focusing on key priorities identified through member discussions.
  • Their efforts aim to develop clear research objectives, select appropriate statistical methods, and establish best practices for dealing with missing data, with input from a diverse membership that includes patients, regulators, and researchers.
