Pregabalin (PGB) is a novel gamma-aminobutyric acid analog that has been recently approved for the treatment of partial-onset seizures, neuropathic pain, and fibromyalgia. Although PGB presents a low potential for abuse in comparison to other scheduled drugs, the literature reports its potential misuse, especially among individuals with former or current drug addiction. The present study aimed to develop and validate a novel method for the determination of PGB in hair to perform a retrospective observational study on the misuse of this drug in a population of addicted subjects from Northern Algeria.

Introduction: Effective medication adherence, is a real global challenge that emerges as a pivotal factor influencing asthma control, exacerbation frequency, hospitalization rates and ultimately, mortality, morbidity and health care costs. In light of this, our study aimed to assess therapeutic adherence levels among asthmatic patients and identify factors contributing to non-adherence.
Methods: We conducted a descriptive, cross-sectional multicenter study, among asthmatic patients receiving outpatient or inpatient care across seven asthma centers located in two Algerian cities: Algiers (University Hospital Center of Benimessous, University Hospital Center of Bab el oued,EPSP of Zeralda, EPSP of Beraki and EPSP of Rouiba) and Constantine (Constantine University Hospital Center (CHU), EPSP of Constantine), between July and December 2023.

The title compound, [Sn(CH)Cl(CHN)], which was obtained by the reaction between 1,10-phenanthroline and phenyl-tin trichloride in methanol, exhibits intra-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the chlorine and hydrogen atoms. Crystal cohesion is ensured by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, as well as -⋯π and π-stacking inter-actions involving three different aromatic rings with centroid-centroid distances of 3.6605 (13), 3.

3-Cyanopyridine derivatives are known for exhibiting excellent anticancer activity due to their strong capability to inhibit various biological targets, including Pim-1 kinase, survivin, and tubulin polymerization. On the other hand, N-acylhydrazones (NAH) are known to be a very versatile motif in medicinal chemistry and drug design. Based on these data, we report in this paper, the synthesis of novel 3-cyanopyridines incorporating N-acyl hydrazine scaffold, the evaluation of their cytotoxicity on the breast (MCF-7) and ovarian (A-2780) cancer cell lines and their antioxidant properties.

This paper presents a comparative study between four techniques recently used to improve the wind energy conversion system (WECS) to water pumping systems. The WECS is a renewable energy source which has developed rapidly in recent years. The use of the WECS in the water pumping field is a free solution (economically) compared to the use of the electricity grid supply.

The poultry red mite Dermanyssus gallinae is a hematophagous ectoparasite of layer hens. Infestations with poultry red mites pose an increasing threat to the egg production industry, causing serious problems to animal health and welfare, directly or indirectly as a vector of several infectious agents. In this study, we aimed to investigate common avian pathogens in mites.

Purpose: In this study, we retrospectively reviewed the use of flow cytometry (FCM) in the diagnosis of inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) at a single center in Algeria. Sharing insights into our practical experience, we present FCM based diagnostic approaches adapted to different clinical scenarios.
Methods: Between May 2017 and February 2024, pediatric and adult patients presenting with clinical features suggestive of immunodeficiency were subjected to FCM evaluation, including lymphocyte subset analysis, detection of specific surface or intracellular proteins, and functional analysis of immune cells.

This study aimed to demonstrate the existence of a possible correlation between the level of liver fluke infection in cattle caused by and the titers of anti-parasite antibodies in the blood. 113 blood samples were taken from non-dewormed pasture cattle in the communal slaughterhouse of the Jijel city in order to determine the serological titration of anti-fluke antibodies by the ELISA method. After slaughtering the animals studied, a count of parasites present in the inspected livers was carried out in order to assess the level of parasitic infection.

Marine algae are a rich source of aromatic secondary metabolites, with bromophenols (BPs) receiving particular attention due to their health benefits. Despite extensive research on BPs, the understanding of their antioxidant potential, as well as their mechanisms of action at the molecular level, remains incomplete. This study utilized density functional theory (DFT) to systematically elucidate the antioxidant and pro-oxidant mechanisms of the main BP scaffolds under physiological conditions.
