Background: Rett syndrome (RTT) is a neurodevelopmental disorder most often related to a pathogenic variant in the X-linked MECP2 gene. Internalizing behaviors appear to be common, but standard methods of diagnosing anxiety are not readily applied in this population which typically has cognitive impairment and limited expressive language. This study aims to describe the frequency of anxiety-like behavior and anxiolytic treatments along with associated clinical features in individuals with RTT.

Quantum Bridge Analytics II: QUBO-Plus, network optimization and combinatorial chaining for asset exchange.

Quantum Bridge Analytics relates to methods and systems for hybrid classical-quantum computing, and is devoted to developing tools for bridging classical and quantum computing to gain the benefits of their alliance in the present and enable enhanced practical application of quantum computing in the future. This is the second of a two-part tutorial that surveys key elements of Quantum Bridge Analytics and its applications. Part I focused on the Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) model which is presently the most widely applied optimization model in the quantum computing area, and which unifies a rich variety of combinatorial optimization problems.

CDKL5 deficiency disorder (CDD) was first identified as a cause of human disease in 2004. Although initially considered a variant of Rett syndrome, CDD is now recognised as an independent disorder and classified as a developmental epileptic encephalopathy. It is characterised by early-onset (generally within the first 2 months of life) seizures that are usually refractory to polypharmacy.

Objective: To examine the evidence levels, study characteristics, and outcomes of nonpharmacologic complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) interventions in rehabilitation for individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Data Sources: MEDLINE (OvidSP), PubMed (NLM), EMBASE ( Embase.com ), CINAHL (EBSCO), PsycINFO (OvidSP), Cochrane Library (Wiley), and National Guidelines Clearinghouse databases were evaluated using PRISMA guidelines.

Diet Adherence among Adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Concept Analysis.

Objectives: To analyze the concept of diet adherence and its components in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Methods: The Walker and Avant (2011) method of concept analysis was used. Scientific databases were queried for research articles in the English language published during 2010-2020 using the search terms: compliance, adherence, treatment adherence, diet adherence, T2DM, and concept analysis.

Experiences of children with central venous access devices: a mixed-methods study.

Background: Our study aims to explore the experience of having a central venous access device (CVAD) from the perspective of the child and family and how movements within and outside of hospital environments influence this experience.

Methods: A mixed-methods study was conducted across Children's Health Queensland (Australia), including inpatient and home-care settings. Children less than 18 years with CVADs were eligible and followed for 3 months or CVAD removal.

Inter-individual response differences on resting blood pressure as a result of qigong in adults: An ancillary meta-analysis of randomized trials.

Objective: Conduct an ancillary meta-analysis to determine whether true inter-individual response differences (IIRD) exist with respect to the effects of qigong on resting systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in adults.

Methods: Data from a meta-analysis representing 370 participants (181 qigong, 189 control) from 7 randomized trials on qigong and resting SBP and DBP in men and women were included. Qigong and control group change outcome standard deviations treated as point estimates for both resting SBP and DBP were used to calculate true IIRD from each study.

Pediatric central venous access devices: practice, performance, and costs.

Background: Healthcare delivery is reliant on a functional central venous access device (CVAD), but the knowledge surrounding the burden of pediatric CVAD-associated harm is limited.

Methods: A prospective cohort study at a tertiary-referral pediatric hospital in Australia. Children <18 years undergoing insertion of a CVAD were screened from the operating theatre and intensive care unit records, then assessed bi-weekly for up to 3 months.

Background: Most pulmonary conditions reduce FVC, but studies of patients with combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema demonstrate that reductions in FVC are less than expected when these two conditions coexist clinically.

Research Question: Do interstitial lung abnormalities (ILAs), chest CT imaging findings that may suggest an early stage of pulmonary fibrosis in individuals with undiagnosed disease, affect the association between emphysema and FVC?

Study Design And Methods: Measures of ILA and emphysema were available for 9,579 and 5,277 participants from phases 1 (2007-2011) and 2 (2012-2016) of the Genetic Epidemiology of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Study (COPDGene), respectively. Background And Objective: The objective of this study was to determine whether family members of patients with pediatric multiple sclerosis (MS) have an increased prevalence of autoimmune conditions compared with controls.

Methods: Data collected during a pediatric MS case-control study of risk factors included information about various autoimmune diseases in family members. The frequency of these disorders was compared between cases and controls.

NB-IoT Devices in Reverberation Chambers: A Comprehensive Uncertainty Analysis.

New protocols related to internet-of-things applications may introduce previously unnoticed measurement effects in reverberation chambers due to the narrowband nature of these protocols. Such technologies also require less loading to meet the coherence-bandwidth conditions, which may lead to higher variations, hence uncertainties, across the channel. Sensitive and Prolonged Detection of Dengue Virus RNA in Whole Blood.

Molecular detection of dengue virus (DENV) RNA from serum or plasma provides an accurate acute-phase diagnostic (< 7 days after symptom onset). Detection may be prolonged in whole blood, although data are limited. We tested for DENV by real-time reverse transcription-PCR in 345 paired acute-phase plasma and whole blood samples from individuals with a Flavivirus-like illness in southwestern Guatemala.

No Longer a Match: Trends in Radiation Oncology National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Data from 2010-2020 and Comparison Across Specialties.

Purpose: To report trends in the number and types of applicants and matched trainees to radiation oncology in comparison to other specialties participating in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) between 2010 and 2020.

Methods And Materials: Data from the NRMP and Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) were obtained for 18 medical specialties between 2010 and 2020. We assessed the numbers and types of applicants and matched trainees relative to available positions in the NRMP and Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP).

Surgical procedures suppress autophagic flux in the kidney.

Many surgical models are used to study kidney and other diseases in mice, yet the effects of the surgical procedure itself on the kidney and other tissues have not been elucidated. In the present study, we found that both sham surgery and unilateral nephrectomy (UNX), which is used as a model of renal compensatory hypertrophy, in mice resulted in increased mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1/2 (mTORC1/2) in the remaining kidney. mTORC1 is known to regulate lysosomal biogenesis and autophagy.

The Quality of Care of Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Patients: The Provider Perspective.

Background: Transgender and gender-nonconforming (TGNC) patients have inadequate quality of care. Few studies have examined the issues related to quality of care from the perspective of providers. The purpose of this pilot study was to understand the barriers and facilitators of quality TGNC care and develop recommendations for health systems.

A cumulative risk index for use in the medical home.

Background And Objective: Previous studies have described the effect of sociodemographic factors on early development. We describe development of a simple cumulative risk index (CRI) based on four sociodemographic factors and explore the concurrent and predictive relationship of this index to a measure of the cognitive home environment in early childhood and to later school functioning.
