Fungal microbes are a small but immunoreactive component of the human microbiome, which may influence cancer development, progression and therapeutic response. Immunosenescence is a process of immune dysfunction that occurs with aging, including lymphoid organ remodeling, contributing to alterations in the immune system in the elderly, which plays a critical role in many aspects of cancer. There is evidence for the interactions between fungi and immunosenescence in potentially regulating cancer progression and remodeling the tumor microenvironment (TME).

Targeted inhibition of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) complex generation is an emerging and promising cancer treatment strategy, but limited targets and specific inhibitors have been reported. Leucine-rich pentatricopeptide repeat-containing protein (LRPPRC) is an atypical RNA-binding protein that regulates the stability of all 13 mitochondrial DNA-encoded mRNA (mt-mRNA) and thus participates in the synthesis of the OXPHOS complex. LRPPRC is also a prospective therapeutic target for lung adenocarcinoma, serving as a promising target for OXPHOS inhibition.

Amphiphilic lipid oligonucleotide conjugates are powerful molecular-engineering materials that have been used for delivery of therapeutic oligonucleotides. However, conventional lipid oligonucleotide conjugates suffer from poor selectivity to target cells due to the nonspecific interaction between lipid tails and cell membranes. Herein, a reconfigurable DNA nanotweezer consisting of a c-Met aptamer and bischolesterol-modified antisense oligonucleotide was designed for c-Met-targeted delivery of therapeutic antisense oligonucleotides.

Hypoxia is a typical hallmark of solid tumors and plays a crucial role in the progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinogenesis (ESCC). Nevertheless, the precise mechanisms underlying the involvement of hypoxia in tumor development remain unclear. In the present study, a novel hypoxia-induced long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) is identified first, lnc191, which is highly expressed in clinical ESCC tissues and is positively correlated with poor prognosis of ESCC patients.

Wnt/β-catenin/transcription factor (TCF) transcriptional activity plays an integral role in colorectal cancer (CRC) carcinogenesis. However, to date, no drugs targeting this pathway are used in clinical practice owing to the undesirable and serious side effects. In this study, it is found that the transcriptional regulation of Wnt pathway is activated and associated with liver metastasis in CRC.

Rationale And Objectives: The early prediction of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) will aid in the development of personalized treatments for patients with breast cancer. This study investigated the value of longitudinal multimodal deep learning (DL) based on breast MR and ultrasound (US) in predicting pathological complete response (pCR) after NAC.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the pre-NAC and post-2nd-NAC MR and/or US images of 448 patients enrolled from three centers and extracted DL features from the largest section of the breast tumour using ResNet50.

The phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K) signaling plays a key role in various cellular functions and is frequently activated in cancer, making it an attractive therapeutic target. The PI3K signaling pathway influencing glucose metabolism, lipid synthesis, nucleotide production, and protein synthesis, all of which contribute to cancer cell proliferation and survival. It enhances glucose uptake through the activation of glucose transporters and glycolysis, while also promoting lipid synthesis via downstream factors like mTORC1.

A bidirectional self-powered biosensor is constructed for the quasi-simultaneous detection of Pb and Hg based on MoS@CuS heterostructures as an accelerator and hybridization chain reaction (HCR) as a signal amplification strategy. MoS@CuS heterostructures significantly facilitate electron transfer between glucose and bioelectrodes, thereby greatly improving the detection signal of self-powered biosensors. This novel biosensor employs the unique sequences of DNAzymes to isolate Pb and Hg by the cleavage effect and thymine (T)-Hg-thymine (T) structures, respectively.

This study constructed an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensor for ultrasensitive detection of Pb in a ternary system by employing DNAzyme. The ternary system is composed of a potassium-neutralized perylene derivative (KPTC) as the ECL emitter, KSO as the coreactant, and neodymium metal-organic frameworks (Nd-MOFs) as the coreaction accelerators. Nd-MOFs immobilize DNAzymes and enhance the luminescence intensity of the KPTC/KSO system.
