This study developed an experimental flowable composite incorporated with niobium pentoxide (NbO) combined or not with titanium dioxide co-doped with fluorine and nitrogen (NF_TiO) and evaluated the mechanical and antibacterial properties. The experimental flowable composite (TEGDMA + BisGMA 1:1 + 60%wt - inorganic filler - borosilicate 0.7 μm) was formulated according to the type and concentration of NbO and NF_TiO (0.

Aim: The purpose of this case-control (CT) study was to investigate the association between the presence of non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) with occlusal force and other potential risk factors.
Materials And Methods: Thirty-nine participants with NCCLs [cases (CS)] and 39 with no NCCLs [control (CT)] attending the dental clinic of the Faculdades Integradas São Pedro (FAESA), located in Brazil, were enrolled in this study. Information was collected through anamnesis, clinical examination, and a questionnaire addressing aspects related to tooth brushing, dentifrice, and mouthwash use.

Objective: Considering that misfit is a significant predictor of the clinical success of indirect restorations, the objective of this study was to evaluate the marginal and internal misfit of two computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) RMC ceramic materials used as occlusal veneers (OVs) of different thicknesses.
Methods And Materials: A CAD model of a mandibular first molar was obtained and OV preparations 0.5-, 1.

Statement Of Problem: Evidence regarding the retention system for a mandibular overdenture is important for treatment planning. However, the clinical performance of stud and ball attachments for mandibular overdenture retainers is unclear.
Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to compare the clinical performance and self-reported patient outcomes of ball and stud attachments as mandibular overdenture retainers.

Basic and daily oral hygiene care is essential for maintaining oral health in adults with special needs. The caregivers act in this process and need to be understood about the difficulties and the resources they use to deal with this demand. The aim of this qualitative study was to understand the difficulties and strategies of caregivers regarding oral hygiene for adults with special health care needs (SHCN) METHODS: Twenty-one caregivers of adults with SHCN participated in an interview in which the following questions were asked: What are the greatest difficulties in performing oral hygiene for the adult with SHCN you take care? and "How do you overcome these difficulties?" The interviews were recorded and the qualitative data were analyzed using the Discourse of the Collective Subject technique RESULTS: All respondents were female with a mean age of 58.

This in vitro study aimed to evaluate the gaps length and depth of cure of dual-cure bulk-fill resin composites inserted in box-shaped preparations. Box-shaped preparations (4 mm deep) were made in fifteen human third-molars and divided into three groups according to the resin composites (n=5): Dual-cure bulk-fill BulkEZ (BEZ); Dual-cure bulk-fill HyperFIL (HF); and Tetric Evoceram Bulk-fill (TETRIC), as control. Gaps length (%) was evaluated in tooth-restoration interface with micro-computed tomography (µCT).

Objective: To evaluate the influence of resin-matrix ceramic material and thickness on reliability and stress distribution of occlusal veneers (OV).
Methods: One hundred and twenty-six OV of a mandibular first molar were milled using a CAD/CAM system and allocated according to materials (resin nanoceramic (RNC) or polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (PICN)) and thicknesses (0.5, 1.

Objective: This randomized clinical trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of a blue-covarine whitening toothpaste on tooth bleaching.
Subjects And Methods: Seventy-five subjects with shade mean C1 or darker were randomized into three groups (n = 25): CT-conventional toothpaste, WT-whitening toothpaste, and CP10-10% carbamide peroxide. Subjects from CT and WT brushed their teeth twice/day for 2 weeks.

Background: This study was conducted to assess the clinical, immunological, and patient-centered outcomes of microcurrent electrotherapy on palatal wound healing.
Methods: This was a parallel, double-masked randomized clinical trial, in which 53 patients with ridge preservation indications were selected and randomly assigned to one of two groups. In the control (sham) group (n = 27), palatal wounds, after free gingival grafts (FGG) harvest, received sham application of electrotherapy.

Purpose: To evaluate the pullout resistance of CAD/CAM implant-supported crowns cemented with provisional and definitive cements on Ti-base implant abutments.
Materials And Methods: Sixty crowns were milled for use in Ti-base implant abutments and divided (n = 15/group) according to material, as follows: (a) [Pr] Temporary acrylic resin; (b) [Co-Cr] Cobalt-Chromium alloy; (c) [Zr] polycrystalline zirconia; and (d) [Ti] titanium. The cementation was performed with RelyX Temp NE (RxT) cement or RelyX U200 self-etching resin cement, under a 50 N (5 kg) load for 10 minutes.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of light-curing wavelengths on composite filler particle displacement, and thus to visualize localized polymerization shrinkage in a resin-based composite (RBC) containing camphorquinone (CQ) and Lucirin TPO (TPO).
Methods: Three light-curing units (LCUs) were used to light-cure a RBC containing CQ and TPO: a violet-only, a blue-only, and a dual-wavelength, conventional (Polywave, emitting violet and blue wavelengths simultaneously). Zirconia fillers were added to the RBC to act as filler particle displacement tracers.

Objectives: The aim of this clinical study was to evaluate the performance of restorations for non-carious cervical lesions performed with a two-step etch-and-rinse or with a two-step self-etch adhesive.
Materials And Methods: The teeth to be restored (15 patients, N = 90 restorations) were randomly assigned into 3 groups (n = 30), according to the adhesive system: group 1 (G1): Peak LC Bond; group 2 (G2): Clearfil Protect Bond; and group 3 (G3): prior selective acid etching of the enamel margins before bonding with Clearfil Protect Bond. The NCCLs were restored with Amelogen Plus composite resin.

Background: Chediak-Higashi Syndrome (CHS) is a rare autosomal recessive disease characterized by immunodeficiency, oculocutaneous albinism, neurological dysfunction, and early death. Individuals with CHS present with increased susceptibility to infections of the skin, upper-respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, and oral tissues. Classical CHS is caused by mutations in the gene encoding lysosomal trafficking regulator (LYST).

Objective: Evaluate the effect of implant connection designs on reliability and failure modes of screw-retained all-ceramic crowns.
Methods: Central incisor ceramic crowns in zirconia abutments were screwed and torqued down to external hexagon (EH), internal hexagon (IH) and Morse taper (MT) implant systems. Single-load-to-fracture (SLF) test (n=4 per group) determined three step-stress fatigue profiles with specimens assigned in the ratio of 3:2:1.

The aim of the study was to evaluate molar bite force (BF) magnitude and its correlation to the signs of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD), gender, weight, height and age in 101 students ranging in age from 6 to 18 years (32 boys/21 girls with mixed dentition and 23 boys/25 girls with permanent dentition). TMD clinical signs were evaluated using the Craniomandibular Index (CMI), and two subscales, the Dysfunction Index (DI) and the Palpation Index (PI). BF was determined with a pressurized tube connected to a sensor (MPX5700-Motorola SPS).
