To the best of our knowledge, no studies in the literature have reported on the relationship between the pregnancy-associated glycoprotein (PAG) concentration and undernutrition during pregnancy in sheep. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of undernutrition on the blood concentration of PAGs in pregnant ewes carrying single and multiple fetuses, undergoing either dietary energy restriction or receiving 100% of their energy requirements during the period of maximal placenta growth. From d 24 to 100 of pregnancy, the ewes were fed ryegrass hay and two different iso-proteic concentrates, fulfilling either 100% of the ewes' energy requirements (control group; n = 30, 14 singleton pregnancies, 16 multiple pregnancies) or only 50% (feed-restricted group; n = 29; 11 singleton pregnancies, 18 multiple pregnancies).

In this paper, the isopropyl ester derivatives L and L of bis(pyrazol-1-yl)acetic acid and bis(3,5-dimethyl-pyrazol-1-yl)acetic acid were used as chelators for the preparation of new Cu(i) phosphane complexes 1-4. They were synthesized by the reaction of [Cu(CHCN)]PF and triphenylphosphine or 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane with L and L ligands, in acetonitrile or acetonitrile/methanol solution. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global public health problem particularly accentuated in low- and middle-income countries, largely due to a lack of access to sanitation and hygiene, lack of awareness and knowledge, and the inadequacy of molecular laboratories for timely and accurate surveillance programs. This study introduces a versatile molecular detection toolbox (C12a) for antibiotic resistance gene markers using CRISPR/Cas12a coupled to PCR. Our toolbox can detect less than 3×10 ng of DNA (100 attoMolar) or 10 CFU/mL.

(Chaga) is a medicinal mushroom with several pharmacological properties that is used as a tea in traditional Chinese medicine. In this study, Chaga water extract was digested in vitro to mimic the natural processing and absorption of its biocomponents when it is consumed as functional beverage, and its anticancer activities were evaluated in breast cancer (BC) cell lines, representing HER2-positive and triple-negative subtypes. Frailty in cirrhosis or advanced chronic liver disease (ACLD) is a relevant prognostic factor. In the present study, we aimed to analyze potential biomarkers associated with frailty and its improvement in patients with ACLD. We analyzed the serum of outpatients with ACLD who participated in a previous study (Román, Hepatol Commun 2024) in which frailty was assessed using the liver frailty index (LFI), and patients who were frail or prefrail were randomized to a multifactorial intervention (home exercise, branched-chain amino acids, and probiotics) or control for 12 months.

In the present review, we summarize genome mining of genomic data obtained from the psychrophilic Antarctic marine ciliate and its evolutionary-close mesophilic cosmopolitan counterpart . This analysis highlights adaptation strategies that are unique to the Antarctic ciliate, including antioxidant gene duplication and distinctive substitutions that may play roles in increased drug binding affinity and enzyme reaction rate in cold environments. Enzymes from psychrophiles are usually characterized by high activities and reaction rates at low temperatures compared with their counterparts from mesophiles and thermophiles.
