This experiment used in vivo microdialysis and high-performance liquid chromatography to examine norepinephrine NE release in the amygdala induced by footshock stimulation typically used in inhibitory avoidance training. Sprague-Dawley rats were implanted bilaterally with cannulae aimed at the amygdala.
