Purpose/objectives: A precordial stethoscope (PS) is essential for ensuring clear breath sounds during open airway sedations. However, a traditional PS limits the ability of new users to simultaneously listen to heart and lung sounds alongside experienced practitioners, hindering their learning and development. Bluetooth speaker systems allow for multiple providers but amplify all noise.

While root canal anatomy in Middle Eastern populations is well-studied, research on isthmi in mandibular permanent teeth from this region is limited. This retrospective study used cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to examine isthmi prevalence and location, as well as root canal morphologies (per Vertucci's classification) in mandibular permanent teeth from a subpopulation in Ardabil, Iran. The study is aimed at enhancing our understanding of dental anatomical variations in Middle Eastern populations.

To assess factors associated with the dental utilization of refugee children in Washington state who received oral health care. This study used Medicaid data of newly arrived children who resettled in 2015. Demographics, refugee population density groups, special care needs, dates of dental encounters, and dental claim variables were analyzed using descriptive statistics, analysis of variance (ANOVA), regression analysis, and the Cox proportional-hazard ratios (P<0.

Objective: This case report describes a minimally invasive approach with tooth whitening and partial ceramic veneers in the esthetic zone with a 5-year follow-up.
Clinical Considerations: The patient was initially concerned about the tooth color and previous direct resin composite restorations that chipped on the incisal edges of both maxillary central incisors. Tooth whitening and partial veneers for both central incisors were recommended after clinical evaluation.

Objectives: To assess the link between oral health knowledge (OHK), self-perceived oral health, and emergency room (ER)/urgent care utilization for a dental problem.
Methods: Data were analyzed from a convenience sample of 790 adult participants who presented to two US dental schools and completed an interviewer-administered survey. Key independent variables were OHK assessed with the Comprehensive Measure of Oral Health Knowledge (CMOHK) instrument, self-perceived oral health status and quality of life determined using the General Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI) scores.

Objective: This case report describes the use of a combination of a polychromatic resin composite restoration and resin infiltration to achieve a satisfactory esthetic outcome that has lasted over five years.
Clinical Considerations: The patient's primary complaint was a desire to replace an existing stained resin composite on the facial and mesial surfaces of the maxillary left central incisor, and a white spot on the facial surface of the maxillary right central incisor. After clinical evaluation, the patient was offered either replacement of the restoration with a polychromatic restoration simulating a white spot, or a combined treatment with polychromatic composite and resin infiltration restorations, which was recommended.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare and characterize the structural and ultrastructural organization of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) between two large animal models for use in the development of tissue engineering strategies.
Materials And Methods: Whole TMJs from sheep and pigs were evaluated with micro-computed tomography (μCT) for morphology and quantitative analyses of bone parameters. Histological examination was performed on the TMJ disc and its attachments to investigate regional distribution of collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs).

Implant related infections are the most common cause of joint arthroplasty failure, requiring revision surgeries and a new implant, resulting in a cost of $8.6 billion annually. To address this problem, we created a class of coating technology that is applied in the operating room, in a procedure that takes less than 10 min, and can incorporate any desired antibiotic.

Statement Of Problem: Information on the bond strength of milled polymethyl methacrylate interim restorations when relined with chairside reline materials is lacking.
Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to measure the shear bond strength of various combinations of 3 different chairside reline materials bonded to milled polymethyl methacrylate blocks with 3 different types of surface treatments.
Materials And Methods: Uniform blocks (10×10×22 mm) were milled from tooth-colored polymethyl methacrylate disks (Vivid PMMA; Pearson Dental Supply Co).

Background & Aims: Although Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) is known to involve the disruption of the gut microbiota, little is understood regarding how mucus-associated microbes interact with C difficile. We hypothesized that select mucus-associated bacteria would promote C difficile colonization and biofilm formation.
Methods: To create a model of the human intestinal mucus layer and gut microbiota, we used bioreactors inoculated with healthy human feces, treated with clindamycin and infected with C difficile with the addition of human MUC2-coated coverslips.
