Our study describes the reported rate of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval, declaration of Helsinki (DoH), and informed consent in the case reports and case series and investigates factors associated with the ethical approval report. We searched PubMed for case reports and case series from 2006 to 2017. Annually, we obtained the first 20 articles of a case report cluster from 20 distinct publications.

Of these, the highly anisotropic q-1D vdW crystal structure and the visible-light optical/optoelectronic properties of antimony trisulfide (SbS) have led to its widespread consideration as a promising building block for photovoltaic and non-volatile phase change devices. However, while these applications will greatly benefit from well-defined and sub-nanometer-thick q-1D structures, little has been known about feasible synthetic routes that can access single covalent chains of SbS.

In van der Waals (vdW) solids comprised of 1D or quasi-1D (q-1D) building blocks, anisotropy in both intra- and inter-chain directions results in an abundance of crystalline packing motifs and drastically altered physical states. Among these, structurally and chemically complex 1D/q-1D vdW solids that display topologically protected states, unique optical properties, and enhanced electrical transport properties in 1D are sought after owing to their potential as building blocks for next-generation quantum devices that approach the sub-nanometer regime.

Here, we applied Wright's -statistic, analysis of molecular variance, Bayesian structure analysis, and discriminant analysis of principle components to microsatellite genotype data to analyze the population genetic structure of between and within the northern and southern lowland plains and of within the northern plain of Papua New Guinea after such a program. Bottleneck effects in the two malaria vectors were analyzed using Luikart and Cornuet's tests of heterozygosity.

Introduction: To reduce demands on expert time and improve clinical efficiency, we developed a framework to evaluate whether inexpensive, accessible data could accurately classify Alzheimer's disease (AD) clinical diagnosis and predict the likelihood of progression.
Methods: We stratified relevant data into three tiers: obtainable at primary care (low-cost), mostly available at specialty visits (medium-cost), and research-only (high-cost). We trained several machine learning models, including a hierarchical model, an ensemble model, and a clustering model, to distinguish between diagnoses of cognitively unimpaired, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia due to AD.
Objective: To explore if antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy increases the risk of transfusion requirement or postoperative hematoma formation in patients undergoing microvascular reconstruction for head and neck defects.
Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Setting: Departments of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Colorado, and the University of California Irvine.
Objectives: To describe our institutional experience with point-of-care electroencephalography (pocEEG) and its impact on the evaluation/management of suspected non-convulsive seizures in the emergency department (ED).
Methods: We retrospectively identified 157 adults who underwent pocEEG monitoring in our community hospital ED in 1 year. We calculated the time to obtain pocEEG in the ED (door-to-EEG time) and examined the impact of pocEEG findings (categorized as seizure, highly epileptiform patterns, slowing, or normal activity) on antiseizure medication treatment.

Background: A hallmark of Parkinson's disease (PD) is progressive loss of dopamine terminals in the basal ganglia, with clinical symptoms including motor and non-motor manifestations such as bradykinesia, rigidity, and cognitive impairment. Dopamine transporter single-photon emission computed tomography (DaT-SPECT) can be used to assess dopaminergic denervation by detecting loss of striatal dopamine transporters (DaT).
Objective: We examined DaT binding scores' (DaTbs) association with motor outcomes in PD and explored its usefulness as a predictor of disease progression.
Purpose: The purpose of this work is to describe the association between body mass index (BMI) and (1) management option for localized prostate cancer (PCa) and (2) disease-specific quality of life (ds-QoL) after treatment or active surveillance.
Subjects/patients And Methods: We analysed data from men with localized PCa managed with radical prostatectomy (RP), radiation therapy (RT), or active surveillance (AS) in a prospective, population-based cohort study. We evaluated the association between BMI and management option with multivariable multinomial logistic regression analysis.

Activation of the Simulator of Interferon Genes (STING) system by mitochondrial (mt) DNA can upregulate type 1 interferon genes and enhance immune responses to combat bacterial and viral infections. In cancers, the tumor-derived DNA activates STING leading to upregulation of IFN-beta and induction of antitumor T cells. The entire mtDNA from the cell lines was sequenced using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology with independent sequencing of both strands in both directions, allowing identification of low-frequency heteroplasmy SNPs.

Methods: Participants included 2232 children from the Environmental Risk (E-Risk) Longitudinal Twin Study. We conducted growth mixture modelling (GMM) on combined parent and teacher reports of children's social isolation when children were 5, 7, 10 and 12 years, and we assessed associations with age-5 antecedents and age-18 outcomes using regression analyses.

Introduction: People with type 2 diabetes have increased risk of dementia. Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (RAs) are among the promising therapies for repurposing as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease; a key unanswered question is whether they reduce dementia incidence in people with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: We assessed exposure to GLP-1 RAs in patients with type 2 diabetes and subsequent diagnosis of dementia in two large data sources with long-term follow-up: pooled data from three randomized double-blind placebo-controlled cardiovascular outcome trials (15,820 patients) and a nationwide Danish registry-based cohort (120,054 patients).

Introduction: This study describes practices for disclosing individual research results to participants in Alzheimer's disease research.
Methods: An online survey of clinical core leaders at National Institutes of Health-funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers in the United States (response rate: 30/31, 97%) examined return of results practices across nine different types of research results.
Results: Most centers had returned consensus research diagnoses (83%) and neuropsychological test results (73%), with fewer having shared amyloid positron emission tomography (43%), tau imaging (10%), or apolipoprotein E () genotype (7%) results.

Introduction: The goal of this study was to pilot a referral-based cognitive screening and genetic testing program for Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk assessment in a primary care setting.
Methods: Primary care providers (PCPs; = 6) referred patients ( = 94; = 63 years) to the Rhode Island Alzheimer's Disease Prevention Registry for apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotyping and cognitive screening. PCPs disclosed test results to patients and counseled them about risk factor modification.
Introduction: Early detection of dementia symptoms is critical in Down syndrome (DS) but complicated by clinical assessment barriers. The current study aimed to characterize cognitive and behavioral impairment using longitudinal trajectories comparing several measures of cognitive and behavioral functioning.
Methods: Measures included global cognitive status (Severe Impairment Battery [SIB]), motor praxis (Brief Praxis Test [BPT]), and clinical dementia informant ratings (Dementia Questionnaire for People with Learning Disabilities [DLD]).

Introduction: Use of cognitive composites as primary outcome measures is increasingly common in clinical trials of preclinical and prodromal Alzheimer's disease (AD). Composite outcomes can decrease intra-individual variability, resulting in improved sensitivity to detect longitudinal change and increased statistical power. We developed a novel composite outcome, the ADAS-Cog-Exec, for use in the EXERT trial-a Phase 3 randomized, controlled, 12-month exercise intervention in mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
