Aims: The primary objectives were to investigate the incidence rate (IR) of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in Sardinian children aged 0-14 years in 2019-2022 and to examine the temporal trend from 1989-1999.
Methods: Data from new-onset T1D patients aged 0-14 years who were residents of Sardinia were collected from all pediatric diabetology clinics. The overall, sex- and age specific (groups 0-4, 5-9, and 10-14 years), and calendar year IRs were calculated.

Background And Aims: International guidelines advise improving esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) quality in Western countries, where gastric cancer is still diagnosed in advanced stages. This nationwide study investigated some indicators for the quality of EGD performed in endoscopic centers in Italy.
Methods: Clinical, endoscopic, and procedural data of consecutive EGDs performed in one month in the participating centers were reviewed and collected in a specific database.

Background: Patients with either treatment-resistant or relapsing advanced central pelvic neoplastic disease present with a condition responsible for debilitating symptoms and consequently poor quality of life (QoL). For these patients, therapeutic strategies are very limited and total pelvic evisceration is the only option for relieving the symptoms and increasing survival. Of note, taking charge of these patients cannot be limited to increasing their lifespan but must also be aimed at improving the clinical, psychological, and spiritual conditions.

The presence of mutations in the KRAS gene is a predictor of a poor clinical response to EGFR-targeted agents in patients affected by colorectal cancer (CRC), but its significance as a global prognostic factor remains unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of the KRAS mutational status on time to first metastasis (TTM) and overall survival (OS) in a cohort of Sardinian CRC patients. A total of 551 patients with metastatic CRC at the time of enrolment were included.

Objective: To assess the long-term response to add-on quetiapine therapy in patients with bipolar I disorder who were not adequately responding to standard medications.
Methods: Outpatients with bipolar I disorder (DSM-IV-TR) responding inadequately to standard treatment were observed before and after the addition of quetiapine. Symptom severity was evaluated using the Clinical Global Impressions scale for Bipolar Disorder (CGI-BP) each month.
