Introduction: Surgical practices in low-resource countries often fail to meet established standards. Both doctors and medical students have limited exposure to surgical cases, which hinders training and the development of surgical specialization. This study highlights the current state of surgical practice from a trainee's perspective, explores existing gaps in training and capacity building, and recommends practical solutions.

With the advances in medical technology and research capabilities, especially in next-generation sequencing and imaging, vast amounts of data have been generated from AD/ADRD research. Given that the greatest increase in AD/ADRD prevalence is expected to occur in Africa, it is critical to establish comprehensive bioinformatics training programs to help African scientists leverage existing data and collect additional information to untangle AD/ADRD heterogeneity in African populations.

Here, resistance intensity and the molecular mechanisms driving it were investigated in a population of from northern Cameroon. High levels of pyrethroid and organochloride resistance were observed in population, with no mortality for 1× permethrin; only 11% and 33% mortalities for 5× and 10× permethrin diagnostic concentrations, and <2% mortalities for deltamethrin and DDT, respectively.

This work set out to, first, assess the role of soursop flower extracts (SFE) in limiting palm olein oxidation during the production of plantain chips, before ascertaining the effect of these soursop-flower-enriched fried palm olein on some biochemical and hematological parameters of rats. The extracts were added to 1.5 kg of oil at 1000, 1400, and 1800 ppm, while BHT at 200 ppm served as a positive control (PO+BHT), and the oil without additives was the negative control (PO).

The FT-IR spectrum of the synthesized ligand exhibited a medium band at 3178 cm attributed to (NH) stretching vibrations and strong bands at 1657 and 1600 cm corresponding to the presence of (C[double bond, length as m-dash]O) and (C[double bond, length as m-dash]N) vibration modes. In the spectrum of the nickel(ii) complex, the (C[double bond, length as m-dash]O) and (C[double bond, length as m-dash]N) vibration bands experience negative shifts to 1605 cm and 1580 cm, respectively, compared to the ligand.

Tuberculosis (TB)-related death has increased for the first time in a decade due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), globally. People living with HIV (PLWHIV) might be at a higher risk of developing COVID-19-related complications. Herein, we describe the first case of a patient surviving from SARS-CoV-2-TB-HIV triple co-infection in Cameroon.

This work was aimed at determining the effect of oven and sun drying on the chemical properties and lipid profile of soursop seed oil as well as the functional properties of the defatted seed flour. The chemical properties, lipid profiles, and functional properties of soursop seeds dried for 0, 6, 12, 18, 24, and 30 hr, and 0, 1, 3, and 5 days, respectively, in the oven and on the sun using time T0 as the control sample were determined using oil quality indices, gas phase chromatography, and functionality tests for flours, respectively, with a view of highlighting the potentials of the defatted seed.

Although seasonality in the tropics is often less pronounced than in temperate areas, tropical ecosystems show seasonal dynamics as well. Nevertheless, individual tropical insects' phenological patterns are still poorly understood, especially in the Afrotropics. To fill this gap, we investigated biodiversity patterns of Lepidoptera communities at three rainforest localities in the foothills of Mount Cameroon, West Africa, one of the wettest places in the world.
