Aza-BODIPYs represent a class of fluorophores in which the π-conjugated system is rigidified and stabilized by a boron atom. A promising strategy to enhance their fluorescence properties involves replacing the boron atom with a metal ion. Here, we describe the synthesis and characterization of a water-soluble derivative where the metal is a gallium(III) ion, termed WazaGaY (water-soluble aza-GaDIPY).

In this multicenter study conducted in France, we challenged the hypothesis of the transmission of pathogens other than spp. in 22 patients developing erythema migrans following a tick bite. Using a combination of high-throughput microfluidic PCRs and agnostic metagenomics on skin biopsies and blood samples, no microorganisms other than spp.

G-quadruplexes (G4s) are non-canonical nucleic acid structures that form in guanine (G)-rich genomic regions. X-linked dystonia parkinsonism (XDP) is an inherited neurodegenerative disease in which a SINE-VNTR-Alu (SVA) retrotransposon, characterised by amplification of a G-rich repeat, is inserted into the coding sequence of TAF1, a key partner of RNA polymerase II. XDP SVA alters TAF1 expression, but the cause of this outcome in XDP remains unknown.

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is a polyphenol plant metabolite abundant in tea that has demonstrated antifibrotic properties in the lung. In this issue of the JCI, Cohen, Brumwell, and colleagues interrogated the mechanistic action of EGCG by investigating lung biopsies of patients with mild interstitial lung disease (ILD) who had undergone EGCG treatment. EGCG targeted the WNT inhibitor SFRP2, which was enriched in fibrotic fibroblasts and acted as a TGF-β target, with paracrine effects leading to pathologic basal metaplasia of alveolar epithelial type 2 cells.

With balanced Gaussian data, we prove the explicit form of ICCa asymptotic normality (ASN), valid both with analysis of variance (ANOVA), maximum likelihood (ML), or restricted ML (REML) estimates. An asymptotic confidence interval is then derived and its performances are examined by simulation compared to the most commonly used methods, under small, moderate and large sample size designs.

Pesticide contamination is often cited as a key factor in the global decline of farmland birds. However, the majority of studies on pesticide exposure in non-target fauna are not representative of what happens in nature because they are limited to artificial conditions. The aim of this study was to define and compare, for the first time, pesticide contamination in grey partridges (Perdix perdix) from two different contexts, i.

Biliary tract cancer incidence is increasing and the prognostic remains dismal. The development of personalized medicine is a pivotal issue in proposing therapeutic options for biliary tract cancer patients. Whole exome sequencing identifies approximately 15% of mutations and 15% of fusions in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.

Episodic memories are experienced as belonging to a self that persists in time. We review evidence concerning the nature of human episodic memory and of the sense of self and how these emerge during development, proposing that the younger child experiences a persistent self that supports a subjective experience of remembering. We then explore recent research in cognitive architectures for robotics that has investigated the possibility of forms of synthetic episodic and autobiographical memory.

Purpose: This study aims to comprehensively delineate the phenotypic spectrum of ACTL6B-related disorders, previously associated with both autosomal recessive and autosomal dominant neurodevelopmental disorders. Molecularly, the role of the nucleolar protein ACTL6B in contributing to the disease has remained unclear.
Methods: We identified 105 affected individuals, including 39 previously reported cases, and systematically analysed detailed clinical and genetic data for all individuals.

Introduction: Parastomal hernias are a challenging complication of digestive ostomies. Ileal-conduit parastomal hernias after cystectomy have specific aspects. The aim of this study was to describe the incidence and natural history of ileal-conduit parastomal hernias in order to guide their management, as well as to identify risk factors to prevent them.

Knowledge of how agricultural management interacts with weed seed banks and emergent weed communities is crucial for proactive weed management. Though studies have detailed how differences in disturbance and nutrient applications between organic and conventional herbicide-based systems affect weed communities, few have focused on these same factors in contrasting organic systems. This study assessed the seed banks and emergent weed communities from the most recent crop rotation cycle (2017-2022) of a long-term experiment, which compared four organic grain and forage cropping systems differing in nutrient inputs and soil disturbance.

Members of the leucine rich repeat (LRR) and PDZ domain (LAP) protein family are essential for animal development and histogenesis. Densin-180, encoded by LRRC7, is the only LAP protein selectively expressed in neurons. Densin-180 is a postsynaptic scaffold at glutamatergic synapses, linking cytoskeletal elements with signalling proteins such as the α-subunit of Ca/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II.

Recent research has promoted considerable interest in the potential health benefits of the new generation of probiotics. Despite the abundance of probiotic supplements, their adhesion and thereby colonization in the intestinal tract of the host, a determining factor of probiotic efficacy, remains questionable. Indeed, the gastrointestinal tract, a multi-component and complex system, obscures the comprehensive understanding of the probiotic adhesion mechanism.

The therapeutic alliance is a principal element that allows the dynamics and effects of psychotherapy to be analyzed. In the past half-century, many studies have explored various psychotherapeutic approaches, including psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral and systemic psychotherapy, but hypnotherapy has not been addressed. This article presents the first analysis using current methods of verifying and understanding the dynamics of change in hypnotherapy, regarding to the therapeutic alliance.

Sodium-glucose co-transporter inhibitors (SGLTis) are the latest class of anti-hyperglycemic agents. In addition to inhibiting the absorption of glucose by the kidney causing glycosuria, these drugs also demonstrate cardio-renal benefits in diabetic subjects. miR-30 family, one of the most abundant microRNAs in the heart, has recently been linked to a setting of cardiovascular diseases and has been proposed as novel biomarkers in kidney dysfunctions as well; their expression is consistently dysregulated in a variety of cardio-renal dysfunctions.

Plant survival to a potential plethora of diverse environmental insults is underpinned by coordinated communication amongst organs to help shape effective responses to these environmental challenges at the whole plant level. This interorgan communication is supported by a complex signal network that regulates growth, development and environmental responses. Nitric oxide (NO) has emerged as a key signalling molecule in plants.

Background: Psychiatric disorders often emerge during adolescence or young adulthood, leading to significant disability among youth. The transition from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) is critical for individuals experiencing emerging psychopathology, with delayed access to care negatively impacting long-term outcomes. Accessing mental health services for adolescents and young adults is often complex and delayed due to challenges in service visibility, accessibility and appropriateness.
