In developing countries with uncertain institutional environments, ensuring fairness in contractual arrangements within food value chains is crucial to overcome modern challenges. This paper empirically investigates the vertical relationship between tomato growers and canneries in Algerian agriculture to assess the determinants of contractual performances and price fairness implications. The study is based on an analysis of a comprehensive dataset of 9127 tomato growers engaged in contract farming over four years (2018-2021).

The search for sustainable, cost-effective and environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors for hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution in industrial applications has garnered increasing interest in plant extracts and their refined metabolites. In this research, L. (CA) extract, found in the Algerian Sahara, was considered due to its low cost compared to other studied plants and higher content of active compounds, thereby emerging as a promising candidate and offering the potential to promote a circular economy model.

This study introduces a novel approach for analyzing photovoltaic (PV) systems that employ block lookup tables for speedy and efficient simulation. It introduces an innovative method for tracking the Global Maximum Power Point (GMPP) by utilizing Zebra Optimization Algorithm (ZOA). The suggested method was carefully evaluated under difficult Partial Shading Conditions (PSCs) and Dynamic Shading Conditions (DSCs) to determine its global and local search capability.

Maximizing Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is an essential technique in photovoltaic (PV) systems that guarantees the highest potential conversion of sunlight energy under any irradiance changes. Efficient and reliable MPPT technique is a challenge faced by researchers due to factors such as fluctuations in irradiance and the presence of partial shading. This paper introduced a novel hybrid Equilibrium Slime Mould Optimization (ESMO) MPPT-based algorithm combining the advantages of two recent algorithms, Slime Mould Optimization (SMO) and Equilibrium Optimizer (EO).

This work presents a contribution to reduce the conservatism in nonlinear observer for TakagiSugeno fuzzy systems with unmeasurable premise variables based on the mean value theorem. The conservatism was reduced through the use of non-quadratic Lyapunov function (NQLF) rather than the quadratic form used in previous works. The stability conditions are given in the form of Bilinear Matrix Inequalities (BMI) whereby an effective solution to solve this type of problem is presented using linear solvers which are characterized by their computational efficiency.

Leveraging date palm spikelets (DPS) as a precursor, this study developed a DPS-derived composite (ZnO@DPS-AC) for water treatment, focusing on methyl orange (MO) removal. The composite was synthesized through ZnCl2 activation and pyrolysis at 600 °C. Comprehensive characterization was conducted using TGA, FTIR, XRD, SEM/EDS, and pH.

Guided by this perspective, we examined in a multinational and multicultural study (61 countries; N = 15,039) how narcissism forms are linked to cognitions and behaviors prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As expected, differences in cognitions and behaviors across narcissism forms emerged.

In the present work, we report on theoretical studies of thermodynamic properties, structural and dynamic stabilities, dependence of unit-cell parameters and elastic constants upon hydrostatic pressure, charge carrier effective masses, electronic and optical properties, contributions of interband transitions in the Brillouin zone of the novel TlHgGeSe crystal. The theoretical calculations within the framework of the density-functional perturbation theory (DFPT) are carried out employing different approaches to gain the best correspondence to the experimental data. The present theoretical data indicate the dynamical stability of the title crystal and they reveal that, under hydrostatic pressure, it is much more compressible along the a-axis than along the c-axis.

This paper proposes a high-accuracy EEG-based schizophrenia (SZ) detection approach. Unlike comparable literature studies employing conventional machine learning algorithms, our method autonomously extracts the necessary features for network training from EEG recordings. The proposed model is a ten-layered CNN that contains a max pooling layer, a Global Average Pooling layer, four convolution layers, two dropout layers for overfitting prevention, and two fully connected layers.

Ensuring the safety of fish for human consumption is paramount in safeguarding public health, particularly in relation to parasitic infections. The European hake ( Linnaeus, 1758) may harbor various parasitic nematodes, some of which have zoonotic potential. This cross-sectional survey analyzed a random sample of European hake collected from two fish shops in Batna city (NE Algeria).

Introduction: The primary objective of this research is to examine acrophobia, a widely prevalent and highly severe phobia characterized by an overwhelming dread of heights, which has a substantial impact on a significant proportion of individuals worldwide. The objective of our study was to develop a real-time and precise instrument for evaluating levels of acrophobia by utilizing electroencephalogram (EEG) signals.
Methods: EEG data was gathered from a sample of 18 individuals diagnosed with acrophobia.

Poultry farming has developed into one of Algeria's most productive industrial farming because of the growing demand for sources of protein among Algerian society. Laying hen feed consists mainly of cereals, which can be contaminated with molds and subsequently with their secondary metabolites known as mycotoxins. These later can pose a serious danger to the production and quality of eggs in the commercial layer industry.

In this study, we present a comprehensive optimization framework employing the Multi-Objective Multi-Verse Optimization (MOMVO) algorithm for the optimal integration of Distributed Generations (DGs) and Capacitor Banks (CBs) into electrical distribution networks. Designed with the dual objectives of minimizing energy losses and voltage deviations, this framework significantly enhances the operational efficiency and reliability of the network. Rigorous simulations on the standard IEEE 33-bus and IEEE 69-bus test systems underscore the effectiveness of the MOMVO algorithm, demonstrating up to a 47% reduction in energy losses and up to a 55% improvement in voltage stability.

Huperzine A (HUP) plays a crucial role in Alzheimer's therapy by enhancing cognitive function through increased cholinergic activity as a reversible acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor. Despite some limitations being seen in AChE inhibitors, ongoing research remains dedicated to finding innovative and more effective treatments for Alzheimer's disease. To achieve the goal of the discovery of potential HUP analogues with improved physicochemical properties, less toxic properties, and high biological activity, many in silico methods were applied.
