Effect of mango seeds as an untraditional source of energy on the productive performance of dairy Damascus goats.

Brain-type creatine kinase (CK-BB) increases during osteoclastogenesis, with high circulating amounts in type I osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) following treatment with neridronate, a bisphosphonate able to inhibit osteoclast activity and survival. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the correlation between osteoclastogenesis and CK-BB release from OI patients' osteoclasts treated with different concentrations of neridronate. Our patients showed reduced bone quality, increased levels of CTX I, a marker of bone resorption, and decreased levels of OPG, an inhibitor of osteoclastogenesis.

Here we survey the main approaches and applications in biodiversity and conservation genomics, considering practical factors, such as cost, time, prerequisite skills, and current shortcomings of applications. Most approaches perform best in combination with reference genomes from the target species or closely related species.

The development of NH transfer reactions using hypervalent iodine and simple sources of ammonia has facilitated the synthesis of sulfoximines and sulfonimidamides for applications across the chemical sciences. Perhaps most notably, the methods have been widely applied in medicinal chemistry and in the preparation of biologically active compounds, including in the large-scale preparation of an API intermediate. This review provides an overview of the development of these synthetic methods involving an intermediate iodonitrene since our initial report in 2016 on the conversion of sulfoxides into sulfoximines.

A direct nucleophilic monofluoroalkylation strategy leveraging on lithium fluorocarbenoids has been developed. Flow microreactor technology allows capitalization of the synthetic potential of these scarcely explored short-lived intermediates - namely 1-fluoro-2-phenylethyllithium, 1-fluoro-3-phenylpropyllithium, and 1-fluorononyllithium - generated through lithium/iodine exchange reaction. Existing data indicate an association between vitamin D deficiency and increased severity of respiratory distress due to COVID-19 infection, especially in high-risk populations. To date, the effect of vitamin D on immunogenicity to SARS-CoV-2 vaccines has been investigated solely in young healthcare workers in a few studies, yielding conflicting findings, yet highlighting that the response to immunization is inversely related to age. Vitamin D status can potentially influence the antibody titers in people with a previous (or naïve) SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination, given its role in immune regulatory functions.

Riboflavin is an essential water-soluble vitamin that needs to be provided through the diet because of the conversion into flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) and flavin mononucleotide (FMN), important cofactors in hundreds of flavoenzymes. The adsorption and distribution of riboflavin is mediated by transmembrane transporters of the SLC52 family, namely RFVT1-3, whose mutations are mainly associated with two diseases, MADD and the Brown-Vialetto-Van Laere syndrome. Interest in RFVTs as pharmacological targets has increased in the last few years due to their overexpression in several cancer cells, which can be exploited both by blocking the uptake of riboflavin into the cancerous cells, and by performing cancer targeted delivery of drugs with a high affinity for RFVTs.

Background: The Meet-URO score allowed a more accurate prognostication than the International Metastatic RCC Database Consortium (IMDC) for patients with pre-treated metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) by adding the pre-treatment neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and presence of bone metastases.

A concomitant drug-based score was developed by our group and externally validated for prognostic and predictive purposes in patients with advanced cancer treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The model considers the use of three classes of drugs within a month before initiating ICI, assigning score 1 for each between proton pump inhibitor and antibiotic administration until a month before immunotherapy initiation and score 2 in case of corticosteroid intake. In the present analysis, the drug score was validated in a prospective population of 305 patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma treated with ipilimumab plus nivolumab in the first-line setting.

Background: Chronic heart failure (CHF) affects the health care system with high social and economic costs due to recurrent hospital admissions or frequent ambulatory reassessments. Subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) is commonly observed in patients with CHF and negatively affects myocardial function and remodeling and, ultimately, increases the risk of hospitalizations and all-cause and cardiovascular (CV) mortality.
