October 2024

Department of Veterinary Sciences, Laboratoire Environnement, Santé et Production Animale (LESPA), Institute of Veterinary Sciences and Agronomic Sciences, University of Batna 1, Batna, Algeria.

Combining cholesterol-loaded methyl-β-cyclodextrin (CD-CHL) with vitamin E-loaded methyl-β-cyclodextrin (CD-Vit E) to combat cold shock and oxidative stress during sperm cryopreservation in soybean lecithin extenders remains unexplored. Thus, the current study aimed to investigate the effect of treating bull sperm with CD-CHL and CD-Vit E prior to cryopreservation in a soybean lecithin extender. Sperm collected from eight fertile bulls were pooled and split into six aliquots.

In this study, we report a facile hydrothermal synthesis of strontium-doped SnS nanoflowers that were used as a catalyst for the degradation of antibiotic molecules in water. The prepared sample was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy (UV-Vis). The photocatalytic ability of the strontium-doped SnS nanoflowers was evaluated by studying the degradation of metronidazole in an aqueous solution under photocatalytic conditions.

Lighter-than-air (LTA) aerial vehicles such as airships and aerostats can be found in various strategic and commercial applications, primarily due to their capability to hover and stealth. The mathematical model of these vehicles helps in understanding their complex dynamics and designing and developing proper stabilisation systems for them. Stability derivatives have been used for developing mathematical models for heavier-than-air aerial vehicles since their introduction.

Comp Immunol Microbiol Infect Dis

March 2023

ANSES-Laboratory for Animal Health in Normandy, Physiopathology and Epidemiology of Equine Diseases Unit, Goustranville, France. Electronic address:

In order to determine the prevalence of equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV), Usutu virus (USUV), and West Nile virus (WNV) in eastern Algerian drylands, 340 sera from distinct equids have been collected from 2015 to 2017. Serological analysis for the presence of antibodies against EIAV and flaviviruses was performed using commercially available ELISAs. Sera detected positive, doubtful, or negative close to the doubtful threshold in flavivirus ELISA were tested by the virus neutralization test (VNT), using WNV and USUV strains.

Laboratorio Nacional de Referencia de Nemátodos y Artrópodos, Departamento de Biodiversidad y Ecologia Evolutiva, Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales, Despacho 411-CPle, Calle Serrano 115 Duplicado, 28006 Madrid, Spain.

This study was conducted to determine Thysanoptera species composition associated with olive trees, fruit injury, fluctuations in the abundance of the most phytophagous species relative to the phenological stages of the olive tree, and the temporal variations in the species in relation to environmental variations in Biskra province between 2018 and 2020. The olive orchard chosen for this study is located at the Experimental Station of the Technical Institute for the Development of Saharan Agriculture (ITDAS) in El Outaya (Biskra, a Saharan region of Algeria). Five trees were sampled each week, and thrips were collected by shaking 20 twigs (4 twigs per tree).

Vector-borne diseases represent a real threats worldwide, in reason of the lack of vaccine and cure for some diseases. Among arthropod vectors, mosquitoes are described to be the most dangerous animal on earth, resulting in an estimated 725,000 deaths per year due to their borne diseases. Geographical position of Algeria makes this country a high risk area for emerging and re-emerging diseases, such as dengue coming from north (Europe) and malaria from south (Africa).

Cephalexin degradation initiated by OH radicals: theoretical prediction of the mechanisms and the toxicity of byproducts.

J Mol Model

May 2022

Laboratory of Interaction Materials and Environment (LIME), University of Jijel, BP. 98, Ouled Aissa, 18000, Jijel, Algeria.

In this work, the density functional theory is used to study the local reactivity of cephalexin (CLX) to radical attack and explain the mechanism of the reaction between CLX and hydroxyl radical attack leading to degradation byproducts. The reaction between •OH and CLX is supposed to lead to either an addition of a hydroxyl radical or an abstraction of a hydrogen. The results showed that the affinity of cephalexin for addition reactions increases as it passes from the gas to the aqueous phase and decreases as it passes from the neutral to the ionized form.

A total of 290 lambs in 29 small flocks were studied from October to January 2020, conducted in a semi-extensive rearing system. The objective was to identify by the microscopic morphology of oocysts the species that infect lambs in a steppe region of eastern Algeria, as well as to evaluate on these parasites two clinical indicators of diarrhea (Disco) and anemia (FAMACHA©) used in targeted selective treatments against gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN). This present work completes the previous evaluations carried out in steppe conditions in our laboratory on GIN and cestodes.
