Objectives: Intestinal ultrasound (IU) has emerged as an alternative to detect bowel wall inflammation. The aim of this study was to compare IU findings to clinical disease, fecal calprotectin (FC), and endoscopic findings in newly diagnosed pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients.

Methods: This study was a 1-year, single-center, prospective study.

Here, we analyzed in depth the genome of the previously studied bacteriophage OSYSP (phage OSYSP), revealed its application-related characteristics, and optimized its enumeration techniques for facilitating industrial implementation. We previously sequenced phage OSYSP genome completely by combining results from Illumina Miseq and Ion Torrent sequencing platforms and completing the remaining sequence gaps using PCR.

Background: Prolonged cold storage (CS) of kidneys results in poor long-term outcomes after transplantation (Tx). We reported previously that CS of rat kidneys for 18 h before transplant impaired proteasome function, disrupted protein homeostasis, and reduced graft function. The goal of the present study was to identify the renal proteins, including phosphoproteins, that are dysregulated by this CS injury.

Substance use disorder (SUD) is increasing among primary Spanish-speaking populations, and treatment use is disproportionately low. Patient-provider Spanish language concordance is associated with SUD treatment initiation and better outcomes. Recent geographic shifts within primary Spanish-speaking populations are important considerations in identifying gaps in SUD service delivery in Spanish.

Atrial fibrillation in these patients adds to their morbidity and mortality. The precise mechanisms leading to the increased atrial fibrillation in patients with breast cancer are not well understood.

Xanthogranulomatous osteomyelitis: multimodality imaging of a rare case involving tibial diaphysis with review of literature.

The case report discusses xanthogranulomatous osteomyelitis, a rare inflammatory bone condition that can resemble malignancy on imaging studies. The report details a case of a 42-year-old woman with left leg pain, swelling, and redness lasting 4 months. Imaging revealed a lytic lesion in the left tibia with endosteal erosion, and MRI showed extraosseous soft tissue extension.

Background: Patients with regional lymph node involvement from squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the vulva have a 48% 5-year relative survival. Recently, sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy has become a viable alternative to inguinofemoral lymphadenectomy. Background: Medical record abstraction (MRA) is a commonly used method for data collection in clinical research, but is prone to error, and the influence of quality control (QC) measures is seldom and inconsistently assessed during the course of a study. We employed a novel, standardized MRA-QC framework as part of an ongoing observational study in an effort to control MRA error rates. In order to assess the effectiveness of our framework, we compared our error rates against traditional MRA studies that had not reported using formalized MRA-QC methods.
