A 70-year-old male with prior orthotopic heart transplant developed left bundle branch block followed by new-onset left ventricular systolic dysfunction. He underwent His bundle pacing for cardiac resynchronization therapy with complete normalization of his ejection fraction. This is the first reported case of left bundle branch block-induced cardiomyopathy in a transplanted heart.

Purpose: To investigate microperimetry testing of retinitis pigmentosa GTPase regulator gene (RPGR)-associated retinopathy in a cohort of children and adults.
Design: Prospective observational case series.
Methods: The coefficient of repeatability and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of mean sensitivity (MS) were calculated for mesopic microperimetry.

Importance: This is the first large-scale randomized clinical trial evaluating the effectiveness and safety of overminus spectacle therapy for treatment of intermittent exotropia (IXT).
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of overminus spectacles to improve distance IXT control.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This randomized clinical trial conducted at 56 clinical sites between January 2017 and January 2019 associated with the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group enrolled 386 children aged 3 to 10 years with IXT, a mean distance control score of 2 or worse, and a refractive error between 1.

Background: Pharmacogenetic (PGx) testing is a potentially important, but understudied approach to precision medicine that could improve prescribing practices for antidepressants (ADs) in patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Thus, it is important to understand the scope of its potential impact and to identify patients who may benefit most from PGx-guided care.
Methods: Participants were treatment-seeking US veterans (N=1149) with MDD enrolled in the Precision Medicine in Mental Health Care study, a pragmatic multi-site, randomized, controlled trial that examines the utility of PGx testing in the context of pharmacotherapy for MDD.

Objective: The Work Role Functioning Questionnaire 2.0 (WRFQ), measuring the percentage of time a worker has difficulties in meeting the work demands for a given health state, has shown strong reliability and validity in various populations with different chronic conditions. The present study aims to validate the WRFQ in working cancer patients.

Background: Inhibition of nuclear import via Karyopherin beta 1 (Kpnβ1) shows potential as an anti-cancer approach. This study investigated the use of nuclear import inhibitor, INI-43, in combination with cisplatin.
Methods: Cervical cancer cells were pre-treated with INI-43 before treatment with cisplatin, and MTT cell viability and apoptosis assays performed.

Background: Limited literature exists on Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) findings in COVID-19 patients with neurological symptoms. In this review, we conducted a descriptive analysis of CSF findings in patients with COVID-19 to understand prognosis and explore therapeutic options.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus databases using the keywords "SARS-CoV-2 in cerebrospinal fluid" and "SARS-CoV-2 and CNS Complications"" for reports of CSF findings in COVID-19 related neurological manifestations.

Preterm birth occurs at excessively high and disparate rates in the United States. In 2016, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) launched the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program to investigate the influence of early life exposures on child health. Extant data from the ECHO cohorts provides the opportunity to examine racial and geographic variation in effects of individual- and neighborhood-level markers of socioeconomic status (SES) on gestational age at birth.

Posterior cranial vault distraction is an important modality in the management of craniosynostosis. This surgical technique increases intracranial volume and improves cranial aesthetics. A single procedure is often inadequate in patients with complex multisuture craniosynostosis, as some will go on to develop intracranial hypertension despite the operation.

Background: Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPIs) experience a disproportionate burden of type 2 diabetes and related complications. Although diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) interventions have generally yielded positive results, few NHPIs have been included in these studies, and even fewer studies have been evaluated using a randomized controlled trial design and/or implementation research methods. The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate implementation outcomes of a culturally adapted diabetes self-management education intervention delivered by peer educators to Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders residing in Honolulu, Hawai'i.

Studies evaluating the role of prophylactic hemoclips (HC) in prevention of delayed post-polypectomy bleeding (DPPB) have reported conflicting results. We conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the role of prophylactic HC placement in prevention of DPPB for polyps ≥ 1 cm in size. We reviewed several databases to identify RCTs evaluating the role of HC in prevention of DPPB.

Multiple studies have identified transcriptome subtypes of high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC), but their interpretation and translation are complicated by tumor evolution and polyclonality accompanied by extensive accumulation of somatic aberrations, varying cell type admixtures, and different tissues of origin. In this study, we examined the chronology of HGSOC subtype evolution in the context of these factors using a novel integrative analysis of absolute copy-number analysis and gene expression in The Cancer Genome Atlas complemented by single-cell analysis of six independent tumors. Tumor purity, ploidy, and subclonality were reliably inferred from different genomic platforms, and these characteristics displayed marked differences between subtypes.

Introduction: Massive transfusion (MT) prediction scores allowed for the early identification of patients with massive hemorrhage likely to require large volumes of blood products. Despite their utility, very few MT scoring systems have shown promise in the pre-hospital setting due to their complexity and resource limitations.
Areas Covered: Pub med database was utilized to identify supporting literature for this review which discusses the importance of blood-based resuscitation and highlights the utility of scoring systems to predict the need of massive transfusion.

Background: Chronic left bundle branch block (LBBB) can lead to LBBB-mediated cardiomyopathy from left ventricular dysynchrony. His-bundle pacing (HBP) results in direct electrical synchrony using the native His-Purkinje system, providing a novel treatment for this cardiomyopathy.
Objective: To assess the feasibility of HBP for cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) in LBBB-mediated cardiomyopathy patients.

Background: Lean mass (LM) loss during extended bed rest contributes to long term functional decline in older adults. Identifying blood biomarkers that predict a hospitalized individual's risk of losing LM could allow for timely intervention.
Methods: LM from 19 healthy subjects (age 60-76 y, 4 males, 15 females), who were confined to 10 days of complete bed rest, was measured pre- and post-bed rest.
