This paper evaluates the interaction between level of parental monitoring in adolescence and individual dispositions present in early adulthood in the prediction of alcohol use disorder (AUD) in the mid-20s. Data were drawn from the Cohort Study on Substance Use Risk Factors (C-SURF), encompassing 4844 young Swiss men who were surveyed three times within a 5-year period. The outcome variable was alcohol use disorder (AUD) as defined in the DSM-5.

Pyrrole and indole derivatives are functionalized a green initiative with the dimethyl malonate derived phenyl iodonium ylide 4a in the presence of a blue LED C-H functionalization of the respective heterocycles in methanol to generate the desired compounds 5-7 in moderate to good yields. Control experiments provide insight into the probable reaction mechanism. Finally, the strategy is successfully applied in the generation of azepino[4,5-]indole 12a/b.

Many social animals interact jointly, but only humans experience a specific sense of obligation toward their co-participants, a . However, joint commitment is not only a mental state but also a that reveals itself in the coordination efforts deployed during entry and exit phases of joint action. Here, we investigated the presence and duration of such phases in = 1,242 natural play and grooming interactions of captive chimpanzees and bonobos.

Background: The importance of nutrition in reproductive health is widely acknowledged with special emphasis given to periconceptional maternal diet and its implications on embryo-fetal development, pregnancy complications, and the health of the offspring.
Methods: Following the PRISMA guidelines, we searched for literature in PubMed, CINAHL, and WoS to gather newer information on how diet composition influences the concepts from the very early stages of pregnancy and how maternal health may be affected as well. Fifty-six studies published up to June 2020 met the inclusion criteria.

Purpose: Estimation of the accuracy of 2D-3D registration is paramount for a correct evaluation of its outcome in both research and clinical studies. Publicly available datasets with standardized evaluation methodology are necessary for validation and comparison of 2D-3D registration techniques. Given the large use of 2D-3D registration in biomechanics, we introduced the first gold standard validation dataset for computed tomography (CT)-to-x-ray registration of the hip joint, based on fluoroscopic images with large rotation angles.

The Joint Crisis Plan (JCP) has received growing interest in clinical and research settings. JCP is a type of psychiatric advance statement that describes how to recognize early signs of crisis and how to manage crises. The purpose of the present study, to our knowledge the first to be conducted on this topic in the French-speaking context and to include inpatients, was to describe the content of JCPs and how they are perceived by patients and the providers.

Paternal health and behavioral lifestyles affect reproductive and neonatal outcomes and yet the magnitude of these effects remain underestimated. Even though these impacts have been formally recognized as a central aspect of reproductive health, health care services in Europe often neglect the involvement of fathers in their reproductive programs. Following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines for systematic reviews, a literature search was carried out to assess the possible impact of paternal health on reproductive outcomes.

Background: There is a need for empirical studies assessing the psychometric properties of self-reported alcohol use as measures of excessive chronic drinking (ECD) compared to those of objective measures, such as ethyl glucuronide (EtG).
Objectives: To test the quality of self-reported measures of alcohol use and of risky single-occasion drinking (RSOD) to detect ECD assessed by EtG.
Methods: A total of 227 samples of hair from young Swiss men were used for the determination of EtG.

Fungi and oomycetes release volatiles into their environment which could be used for olfactory detection and identification of these organisms by electronic-nose (e-nose). The aim of this study was to survey volatile compound emission using an e-nose device and to identify released molecules through solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (SPME-GC/MS) analysis to ultimately develop a detection system for fungi and fungi-like organisms. To this end, cultures of eight fungi (, , , , , , , ) and four oomycetes (, , , ) were tested with the e-nose system and investigated by means of SPME-GC/MS.

Significance: The development of a technique allowing for non-invasive measurement of retinal blood flow (RBF) in humans is needed to understand many retinal vascular diseases (pathophysiology) and evaluate treatment with potential improvement of blood flow.
Aim: We developed and validated an absolute laser Doppler velocimeter (LDV) based on an adaptive optical fundus camera that provides simultaneously high-definition images of the fundus vessels and absolute maximal red blood cells (RBCs) velocity to calculate the absolute RBF.
Approach: This new absolute LDV is combined with the adaptive optics (AO) fundus camera (rtx1, Imagine Eyes©, Orsay, France) outside its optical wavefront correction path.
