This study aimed to describe the changes produced on the occlusal plane (OP), the mandibular position and the dentoalveolar compensations of patients with distalization of the maxillary/mandibular arch assisted by mini-screws (MS). A descriptive case-series study was performed using the digital lateral cephalograms (DLC) of nine patients who underwent orthodontic treatment and required the use of MS for a complete distalization of the maxillary/mandibular arch. Records were collected at three different times (T1-T2-T3) and digitally analyzed (variables: Skeletal diagnosis; maxillary occlusal plane; position of the maxilla/mandible; and dentoalveolar changes of the distalization arch tracing the longitudinal axis of incisors/molars regarding the palatal/mandibular plane).

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that has a significant impact on quality of life. The immune response and allergy symptoms in AD are triggered by the recognition of specific allergens by IgE antibodies. Cross-reactivity can lead to auto-IgE responses, potentially worsening AD symptoms.

Network Meta-analysis (NMA) is an advanced statistical method that combines direct evidence (ie, from head-to-head comparisons) and indirect evidence (ie, estimated from the direct available evidence) to obtain network estimates. NMAs are helpful to determine the comparative effectiveness of interventions that have not been directly compared and may provide more precise estimates for those comparisons that have been directly compared. NMA provides hierarchies which can be helpful for decision-making, much more in scenarios when multiple interventions exist for the same indication.

Crib-biting is a stereotyped oral behavior with poorly understood etiology and pathophysiology. The relationship between the gut microbiome and brain function has been described in behavioral disorders such as schizophrenia, depression and anxiety in humans. In horses, studies of behavioral problems and the microbiome are very limited.

We report the creation of 17 Escherichia coli strains harboring the conjugative plasmid pLCasCureT with a CRISPR-Cas9 system to surgically "cure" the most common plasmids among Enterobacterales species. This approach can create isogenic pairs of strains to study host-plasmid interactions, correlate plasmid genotype and phenotype, and create plasmid-free cloning strains.

Unlabelled: This mini review delves into the complex issue of mortality linked to malnutrition, highlighting its multifaceted nature beyond just biomedical factors, presenting it as an intricate intersectional phenomenon.
Method: The mini-review methodology involved a systematic literature search across databases like PubMed and Scielo, focusing on malnutrition and infant mortality in Colombia. We used specific keywords and Boolean operators to identify relevant studies, emphasizing socio-economic, gender, and ethnic factors, while excluding non-peer-reviewed and outdated publications.

Introduction: Asthma imposes a crucial economic burden on health systems, especially with the incorporation of new drugs. Recently, mepolizumab has been approved to prevent exacerbations in patients with eosinophilic asthma. This study explores the economically justifiable price of mepolizumab for preventing exacerbations in children with severe asthma.

We deployed the Blended Genome Exome (BGE), a DNA library blending approach that generates low pass whole genome (1-4× mean depth) and deep whole exome (30-40× mean depth) data in a single sequencing run. This technology is cost-effective, empowers most genomic discoveries possible with deep whole genome sequencing, and provides an unbiased method to capture the diversity of common SNP variation across the globe. To evaluate this new technology at scale, we applied BGE to sequence >53,000 samples from the Populations Underrepresented in Mental Illness Associations Studies (PUMAS) Project, which included participants across African, African American, and Latin American populations.

Background: Inadequate polymerization of resins is a major cause of failure in dental restorations. This study aimed to evaluate the hypothesis that both polymerization distance and preheating of four nanohybrid resins significantly affect their degree of conversion (DC).
Material And Methods: Four A2-colored nanohybrid resins were selected: Filtek Z250 XT (3M), Tetric N-Ceram (Ivoclar), Zafira (New Stetic), and Spectra Smart (Dentsply).

This investigation explores the fabrication of polymer matrix nanocomposites via additive manufacturing (AM), using a UV photopolymerization resin and copper nanoparticles (Cu-NPs) with vat photopolymerization 3D printing technology. The aim in this study is to investigate the mentioned materials in different formulations in terms of inexpensive processing, the property related variability, and targeting multifunctional applications. After the AM process, samples were post-cured with UV light in order to obtain better mechanical properties.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a multifactorial, chronic, and progressive neurodegenerative disorder inducing movement alterations as a result of the loss of dopaminergic (DAergic) neurons of the pars compacta in the substantia nigra and protein aggregates of alpha synuclein (α-Syn). Although its etiopathology agent has not yet been clearly established, environmental and genetic factors have been suggested as the major contributors to the disease. Mutations in the glucosidase beta acid 1 () gene, which encodes the lysosomal glucosylceramidase (GCase) enzyme, are one of the major genetic risks for PD.
