The Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) is the second most commonly used performance-based task. However, traditional TAT administration is time-consuming and raises accessibility issues. Research exploring administration modifications has found that within a lab setting, having participants type their own narratives leads to richer responses than when participants narrate the stories out loud to an examiner.

Eating disorders (EDs) have a harmful impact on the lives of millions of individuals in the United States. Research indicates that comorbid trauma could negatively impact treatment outcomes, reinforcing ED symptomology. Transdiagnostic approaches underscore experiential avoidance as a maintaining factor for EDs and other comorbid concerns, while mindfulness and adaptive coping help disrupt avoidance of emotional experiences.

Endometrial cancer is one of the most prevalent tumours in females and holds an 83% survival rate within 5 years of diagnosis. Hypoestrogenism is a major risk factor for the development of endometrial carcinoma (EC) therefore two major types are derived, type 1 being oestrogen-dependent and type 2 being oestrogen independent. Surgery, chemotherapeutic drugs, and radiation therapy are only a few of the treatment options for EC.

A primary cilium is a thin membrane-bound extension off a cell surface that contains receptors for perceiving and transmitting signals that modulate cell state and activity. While many cell types have a primary cilium, little is known about primary cilia in the brain, where they are less accessible than cilia on cultured cells or epithelial tissues and protrude from cell bodies into a deep, dense network of glial and neuronal processes. Here, we investigated cilia frequency, internal structure, shape, and position in large, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy volumes of mouse primary visual cortex.

Inter-organelle contact and communication between mitochondria and sarco/endoplasmic reticulum (SR/ER) maintain cellular homeostasis and are profoundly disturbed during tissue ischemia. We tested the hypothesis that the formin Diaphanous-1 (DIAPH1), which regulates actin dynamics, signal transduction and metabolic functions, contributes to these processes. We demonstrate that DIAPH1 interacts directly with Mitofusin-2 (MFN2) to shorten mitochondria-SR/ER distance, thereby enhancing mitochondria-ER contact in cells including cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells and macrophages.

Prenatal exposure to toxic metals is associated with altered placental function and adverse infant and child health outcomes. Adverse outcomes include those that are observed at the time of birth, such as low birthweight, as well as those that arise later in life, such as neurological impairment. It is often the case that these adverse outcomes show sex-specific responses in relation to toxicant exposures.

While canines are most commonly trained to detect traditional explosives, such as nitroaromatics and smokeless powders, homemade explosives (HMEs), such as fuel-oxidizer mixtures, are arguably a greater threat. As such, it is imperative that canines are sufficiently trained in the detection of such HMEs. The training aid delivery device (TADD) is a primary containment device that has been used to house HMEs and HME components for canine detection training purposes.

The programmable nature of DNA allows the construction of custom-designed static and dynamic nanostructures, and assembly conditions typically require high concentrations of magnesium ions which restricts their applications. In other solution conditions tested for DNA nanostructure assembly, only a limited set of divalent and monovalent ions have been used so far (typically Mg and Na ). Here, we investigate the assembly of DNA nanostructures in a wide variety of ions using nanostructures of different sizes: a double-crossover motif (76 bp), a three-point-star motif (∼134 bp), a DNA tetrahedron (534 bp) and a DNA origami triangle (7221 bp).

Reconfigurable structures engineered through DNA hybridization and self-assembly offer both structural and dynamic applications in nanotechnology. Here, we have demonstrated that strand displacement of triplex-forming oligonucleotides (TFOs) can be translated to a robust macroscopic DNA crystal by coloring the crystals with covalently attached fluorescent dyes. We show that three different types of triplex strand displacement are feasible within the DNA crystals and the bound TFOs can be removed and/or replaced by (a) changing the pH from 5 to 7, (b) the addition of the Watson-Crick complement to a TFO containing a short toehold, and (c) the addition of a longer TFO that uses the duplex edge as a toehold.
