Background: Oral anticoagulation therapy (OAC) is the cornerstone treatment for preventing venous thromboembolism and stroke in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). Despite its significance, challenges in adherence and persistence to OAC regimens have been reported, leading to severe health complications. Central to addressing these challenges is the concept of self-efficacy (SE) in medication management.

Hypertension is the most prevalent cardiovascular risk factor underlying atrial fibrillation and is present in up to 40% of patients with atrial fibrillation. Furthermore, attributable risk studies have shown that a history of hypertension contributes to up to 24% of incident atrial fibrillation. New data suggest that even early forms of hypertension (prehypertension and aortic stiffness) are associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation development.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to describe the radiological features of different subtypes of orbital lymphoma through a multi-center retrospective analysis involving 88 patients in Australia and the U.S.
  • The most common lymphoma subtypes identified were extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (EMZL), follicular lymphoma (FL), and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), with DLBCL linked to several clinical symptoms such as vision changes and pain.
  • While no significant radiological differences were found between lymphoma subtypes on imaging, aggressive subtypes (like DLBCL) were more likely to show globe indentation compared to indolent ones.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the long-term impacts of coronary calcification and coronary artery disease (CAD) as seen on CT coronary angiography (CTCA) in Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians from 2013 to 2017.
  • Out of 347 patients, coronary calcification was found in 50% of cases, with varied CAD diagnoses, and while Indigenous ethnicity was initially linked to higher calcification and CAD, this association faded when considering other health conditions.
  • Findings show that those with coronary calcification and obstructive CAD had significantly higher rates of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), suggesting that CTCA is useful in assessing heart disease risk in remote populations.
