Introduction: In recent years, advancements in technology and the refinement of engineering techniques have facilitated the development of tissue engineering, placing particular emphasis on the use of 3D-biomaterials with several structural and chemical geometric features. In particular, increasing information on biomaterial geometric surfaces has allowed for a better understanding of tissue regenerative processes. In the present study a comparison between BioRipar, bovine pericardium membrane, modified with micrometric roundish regular open pores (BioR-Ps) and BioRipar without pores (BioR-NPs) has been investigated.

Intraoperative graft verification in coronary surgery is accepted worldwidand equally discussed. In spite of multiple sources of evidence published up to now in favor of clinical benefits following the use of the procedure, there is a persistent skepticism in adopting the available technologies. The object of the present review is to analyze the reluctance of surgeons toward the adoption of assessment methods.

Amyloidosis is a rare multisystem disorder characterized by extracellular accumulation of insoluble fibrils in various organs and tissues. The most common subtype in the pediatric population is systemic reactive amyloidosis, typically developing secondary to chronic inflammatory conditions and resulting in deposition of serum amyloid A protein in association with apolipoprotein HDL3. Clinical presentation is highly variable and is mostly influenced by specific organs involved, precursor protein type, and extent of amyloid deposition, often closely reflecting clinical features of the underlying disease.

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is still the least studied and evaluated form in clinical practice among atherosclerotic pathologies, despite the increased mortality and comorbidities related to it. The relationship between steatotic liver disease and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease has been extensively documented. The purpose of this work is to perform a review of the evidence linking NAFLD or MASLD to PAD, and examine possible clinical scenarios that arise from this new terminology.

: The increase in fungal infections, both systemic and invasive, is a major source of morbidity and mortality, particularly among immunocompromised people such as cancer patients and organ transplant recipients. Because of their strong therapeutic activity and excellent safety profiles, azole antifungals are currently the most extensively used systemic antifungal drugs. Antibacterial properties of various topical antifungals, such as oxiconazole, which features oxime ether functionality, were discovered, indicating an exciting prospect in antimicrobial chemotherapy.

This study aims to identify a metabolomic signature that facilitates the classification of syncope and the categorization of the unexplained syncope (US) to aid in its management. We compared a control group (CTRL, = 10) with a transient loss of consciousness (TLC) group divided into the OH group ( = 23) for orthostatic syncope, the NMS group ( = 26) for neuromediated syncope, the CS group ( = 9) for cardiological syncope, and the US group ( = 27) for US defined as syncope without a precise categorization after first- and second-level diagnostic approaches. The CTRL and the TLC groups significantly differed in metabolic profile.

The mouth and the oropharyngeal system are home to numerous bacterial species that constitute the so-called oral microbiome and play an important role for the integrity of the oral cavity, influencing the overall health of the body, as demonstrated by several studies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the bacterial modulation potential of a toothpaste (bioredoxin) containing curcumin and melatonin. Both substances have anti-inflammatory properties, as documented in several scientific reports.

The influence of playing formations and team ranking on the physical performance of professional soccer players is an open question that needs to be explored. The present study aimed to investigate the impact of these factors on the physical exertion of Serie A soccer players. We analyzed match data from 375 players, categorizing teams based on their final ranking and comparing performance across different playing formations.

Previous physical activity interventions for children (5-12yrs) have aimed to change determinants associated with self-report physical activity behaviour (PAB) and/or sedentary behaviour (SB), however, the associations between these determinants and PAB/SB in different settings are uncertain. The present study aimed to identify modifiable determinants targeted in previous PAB/SB interventions for children. Intervention effects on the determinants and their associations with self-report PAB/SB were assessed across settings.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is one of the most debated methods involving several parameters that could be modulated, but the long-term adaptations it induces are still unclear. This investigation aimed to evaluate the efficacy of running and whole-body exercises with high-intensity (>80% heart rate) short intervals (30 s) in body composition and physical performance and compare the effects between groups with active (AR) or passive recovery (PR), both in males and females. : Eighteen trained young adults (55.

Background: Fusiform aneurysms are a distinct subgroup of intracranial aneurysms with unique characteristics and pose a treatment challenge compared to common saccular aneurysms. Traditionally, surgery was the main treatment; however, endovascular techniques are gaining favor.
Methods: We searched major databases for studies on treatment, clinical outcomes, and radiological outcomes of intracranial fusiform aneurysms published before May 31st, 2023 in order to compare surgical Vs endovascular treatment strategies.

Introduction: The Brief Index of Sexual Functioning for Women (BISF-W) is an international 4-factors tool assessing qualitative and quantitative aspects of sexual experiences in women, both in clinical and experimental settings. The present research aims at validating an Italian version of the BISF-W, to develop a BISF version for men (BISF-M) to fill the gap in the existing sexual function evaluation tools in Italy and to analyze gender and age groups differences in the BISF factors.
Methods: The research included 6,355 women, aged from 18 to 65 ( = 34.
