Background: Efanesoctocog is a B-domain-deleted, Fc-fusion FVIII linked to the D'D3 domain of VWF and two XTEN polypeptides, designed for an ultra-extended half-life for prophylaxis in hemophilia A, but also aiding in managing acute bleeding or surgery in patients on long-term emicizumab. However, no current laboratory method accurately measures FVIII levels in the presence of emicizumab. We hypothesized that the chromogenic (CSA) FVIII assay, specifically calibrated for efanesoctocog using bovine coagulation factors, could provide an accurate assessment of efanesoctocog activity.

Oncocytic adenocarcinoma (OC) of the salivary glands is a rare and controversial entity. It was recently reclassified as "salivary carcinoma NOS and emerging entities" in the 2022 WHO classification of head and neck tumors. The lack of specific molecular alterations and its potential affiliation with other salivary gland carcinomas, such as the oncocytic mucoepidermoid carcinomas (OMEC) or the oncocytic subtype of salivary duct carcinomas (OSDC) justified this reclassification.

Article Synopsis
  • Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) has significantly improved outcomes for acute ischemic stroke, but the challenge lies in ensuring widespread access and sufficient training for interventional neuroradiologists (INRs) across Europe.
  • A survey conducted among European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) members collected responses from 240 INRs across 33 countries, revealing that many thrombectomy-capable stroke centers perform fewer than 150 MT procedures yearly and mostly use specific techniques for recanalization.
  • The findings highlight a disparity in MT practices among centers and suggest a need for more staffing and training programs to meet the increasing demand for MT in Europe.
