In March 2020, World Health Organization recognized severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) emergence as a public health emergency of international concern. One of the major preventative measures developed against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was vaccines. To monitor their use and safety of vaccines from the first utilization in humans during clinical development phases to implementation for the general population, an enhanced national pharmacovigilance system was enabled by the French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety in collaboration with the 30 Regional Pharmacovigilance Centres.

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a rare disease in children and a leading cause of heart failure. There are numerous causes of DCM including genetic causes leading to isolated or syndromic presentations, with a wide variety of implicated genes. Among them, PPP1R13L is associated with a recessive syndrome leading to cardiac anomalies with skin, teeth, and hair abnormalities.

Objectives: To analyse peripapillary and papillary superficial microvascularization using OCT-angiography (OCT-A) in patients with non-arteritic ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION) at the acute and resolutive stages.
Methods: This retrospective case-control study conducted between October 2018 and November 2019 included 23 NAION subjects at the acute stage (onset <1 month) and 20 patients at the resolutive stage (onset >3 months). NAION and contralateral eyes were compared to control eyes of patients (n = 50) matched 1:1 for refractive error, sex, age, systemic hypertension, diabetes, and sleep apnoea syndrome.

Deep brain stimulation is a well-established treatment for improving motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease. However, persistent non-motor symptoms, such as excessive daytime sleepiness, remain a significant challenge and necessitate further investigation. In this study, we conducted repeated measurements of daytime sleepiness using a modified multiple sleep latency test in a healthy monkey (macaca fascicularis), which was later rendered parkinsonian through MPTP administration.

Chemoradiation therapy is on the forefront of pancreatic cancer care, and there is a continued effort to improve its safety and efficacy. Liposomes are widely used to improve chemotherapy safety, and may accurately deliver high-Z element- radiocatalytic nanomaterials to cancer tissues. In this study, the interaction between X-rays and long-circulating nanoliposome formulations loaded with gold nanoclusters is explored in the context of oxaliplatin chemotherapy for desmoplastic pancreatic cancer.

Introduction: Salivary carcinomas of the tongue represent a therapeutic challenge as their radical excision is particularly mutilating. We aimed to study the oncologic and functional outcomes of advanced stages salivary carcinomas of the tongue.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective multicentric study, based on the French national network on rare head and neck cancers (REFCOR), included all patients with a T3-T4 salivary carcinoma of the tongue, diagnosed between January 2009 and December 2018.

Objectives: The management of the facial nerve (FN) is a major issue in parotid cancer, especially when there is no preoperative facial palsy and FN invasion is discovered intraoperatively. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of FN resection in patients with parotid cancer abutting the FN, without pretreatment facial palsy, using a propensity score matching.
Materials And Methods: Data from all patients treated between 2009 and 2020 for a primary parotid cancer abutting or invading the FN but without pretreatment facial palsy were extracted from the national multicentric REFCOR database.

Background: Ultraportable automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are a new generation of defibrillators that are small, lightweight, easy to carry on one's person, and affordable for personal and home use. They offer the opportunity to increase AED availability in case of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and therefore improve outcomes. We aimed to review evidence supporting the potential effect on outcomes and the performance of these ultraportable AEDs.

Neural activity within the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC) and anterior insula (aIns) is often associated with economic choices and confidence. However, it remains unclear whether these brain regions are causally related to these processes. To address this issue, we leveraged intracranial electrical stimulation (iES) data obtained from patients with epilepsy performing an economic choice task.

Aim: To review and summarize existing literature and knowledge gaps regarding interventions that have been tested to optimize dispatcher-assisted CPR (DA-CPR) instruction protocols for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).
Methods: This scoping review was undertaken by an International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Basic Life Support scoping review team and guided by the ILCOR methodological framework and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Studies were eligible for inclusion if they were published in peer-reviewed journals and evaluated interventions used to improve DA-CPR.

Background: Difficulties in distinguishing fibrosis from tumor in borderline and locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) justify surgical exploration to assess resectability. This issue is especially relevant after neoadjuvant treatments (NAT) prior to pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) although outcomes of aborted PD are unknown.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate early outcomes after aborted PD in patients with PDAC.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of intensive care units (ICUs) and their organization in healthcare systems. However, ICU capacity and availability are ongoing concerns beyond the pandemic, particularly due to an aging population and increasing complexity of care. This study aimed to assess the current and future shortage of ICU physicians in France, ten years after a previous evaluation.
