Objective: The role of lymph node dissection (LND) is still controversial in patients with renal cell carcinoma undergoing surgery. We aimed to provide a comprehensive review of the literature about the effect of LND on survival, prognosis, surgical outcomes, as well as patient selection and available LND templates.
Methods: Recent literature (from January 2011 to December 2021) was assessed through PubMed and MEDLINE databases.

Objective: No standard strategy for diagnosis and management of positive surgical margin (PSM) and local recurrence after partial nephrectomy (PN) are reported in literature. This review aims to provide an overview of the current strategies and further perspectives on this patient setting.
Methods: A non-systematic review of the literature was completed.

Background: Using direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) for recently acquired hepatitis C virus (RAHCV) infections, particularly in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive men who have sex with men (MSM), dramatically reduced the incidence of hepatitis C. However, implementation into clinical practice is challenging. The aim of this study was to analyze spontaneous clearance (SC) rates of RAHCV and to identify predictors of SC.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare perioperative and oncological outcomes of upfront vs. delayed early radical cystectomy (eRC) for high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (HR-NMIBC). Methods: All consecutive HR-NMIBC patients who underwent eRC between 2001 and 2020 were retrospectively included and divided into upfront and delayed groups, according to the receipt or not of BCG.

Objective: To provide recommendations on the management of urgent obstetrical emergencies outside the maternity ward.
Design: A group of 24 experts from the French Society of Emergency Medicine (SFMU), the French Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine (SFAR) and the French College of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (CNGOF) was convened. Potential conflicts of interest were formally declared at the outset of the guideline development process, which was conducted independently of industry funding.

Background: There is a lack of consensus related to the collection of standardized data for individuals with vitiligo enrolled in clinical trials and registries as well as those seen in clinical practice which causes difficulty in accurately interpreting, comparing, and pooling of data. Several years ago, efforts to initiate work on developing core outcome sets were performed and a consensus was reached in 2015 on the first core domain set for vitiligo clinical trials.
Methods/design: This project aims to further develop a core outcome set for vitiligo clinical trials as well as create internationally agreed-upon core outcome sets for registries and clinical practice.

Escherichia coli is a commensal species of the lower intestine but is also a major pathogen causing intestinal and extraintestinal infections that is increasingly prevalent and resistant to antibiotics. Most studies on genomic evolution of E. coli used isolates from infections.

Several digital image analysis systems have been developed for surface calculation of vitiligo lesions. Critical assessment of their measurement properties is crucial to support evidence-based recommendations on the most suitable instruments and will reveal the need for future research. A systematic review was performed to systematically summarize, compare, and critically assess the measurement properties of digital and analogue analysis systems for surface calculation of vitiligo lesions following the Consensus-Based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) recommendations.

Aims: This study sought to describe and evaluate the impact of a routine in-hospital cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) programme, including comprehensive heart failure (HF) evaluation and systematic echo-guided CRT optimization.
Methods And Results: CRT implanted patients were referred for optimization programme at 3 to 12 months from implantation. The program included clinical and biological status, standardized screening for potential cause of CRT non-response and systematic echo-guided atrioventricular and interventricular delays (AVd and VVd) optimization.

Aims: Guidelines recommend that in the absence of reversible cause for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) should be performed to prevent further fatal event. We sought to describe the frequency and characteristics of patients discharged from the hospital without ICD after the SCA in the daily practice.
Methods And Results: From 2011 to 2018, all SCAs related to a cardiac cause admitted alive across the 48 hospitals of Great Paris Area were prospectively enrolled.

IDH (isocitrate dehydrogenase) mutation, hypoxia, and neo-angiogenesis, three hallmarks of diffuse gliomas, modulate the expression of small non-coding RNAs (miRNA). In this paper, we tested whether pro-angiogenic and/or pro-hypoxic miRNAs could be used to monitor patients with glioma. The miRNAs were extracted from tumoral surgical specimens embedded in the paraffin of 97 patients with diffuse gliomas and, for 7 patients, from a blood sample too.

Since the publication of the Revised European-American Classification of Lymphoid Neoplasms in 1994, subsequent updates of the classification of lymphoid neoplasms have been generated through iterative international efforts to achieve broad consensus among hematopathologists, geneticists, molecular scientists, and clinicians. Significant progress has recently been made in the characterization of malignancies of the immune system, with many new insights provided by genomic studies. They have led to this proposal.

Background/aim: A much-debated topic relating to patients at risk of local prostate cancer recurrence, but with post-operative leveIs of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) lower than 0.2 ng/ml, concerns the best timing of postoperative radiotherapy (RT), adjuvant or salvage? The present monocentric, retrospective study aimed to investigate the best PSA value at which to plan salvage RT for patients with recurrent prostate cancer.
Patients And Methods: From January 2011 to December 2019, 158 patients were treated with adjuvant RT at Pisa University Hospital, whilst 91 patients underwent salvage RT.

Introduction: The optimal management of the urethra in patients planned for radical cystectomy (RC) remains unclear. We sought to evaluate the impact of urethrectomy on perioperative and oncological outcomes in patients treated with RC for non-metastatic urothelial carcinoma of the bladder (UCB).
Materials And Methods: We assessed the retrospective data from patients treated with RC for UCB of five European University Hospitals.

Standard-of-care management of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) indisputably relies on surgery for low-risk localized tumours and systemic treatment for poor-prognosis metastatic disease, but a grey area remains, encompassing high-risk localized tumours and patients with metastatic disease with a good-to-intermediate prognosis. Over the past few years, results of major practice-changing trials for the management of metastatic RCC have completely transformed the therapeutic options for this disease. Treatments targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) have been the mainstay of therapy for metastatic RCC in the past decade, but the advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors has revolutionized the therapeutic landscape in the metastatic setting.

Background: Adequate storage of sterile surgical devices must prevent contamination and the introduction of microbial contaminants inside the operating room. For functional and economic purposes, stacker cranes (STCs) could replace the traditional sterile storage room (TSSR). STCs are large, multi-stage, computer-assisted systems used to automatically store and retrieve loads from defined locations.

Although the vast majority of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging occurs in the field of prostate cancer, PSMA is also highly expressed on the cell surface of the microvasculature of several other solid tumors, including renal cell carcinoma (RCC). This makes it a potentially interesting imaging target for the staging and monitoring of RCC. The objective of this review is to provide an overview of the current evidence regarding the use of PSMA PET/Computed Tomography in RCC patients.

Aims: The aim of this multicentre study was to harmonize programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) immunohistochemistry (IHC) and melanoma scoring. To provide a reference for PD-L1 expression independently of the IHC protocol, PD-L1 mRNA expression was compared with IHC.
Methods And Results: Standardized PD-L1 assays (22C3, 28-8, SP142, SP263) and laboratory-developed tests (QR1, 22C3) were evaluated on three IHC platforms with a training set (seven cases).
