Background: Cardiac amyloidosis (CA) is an underdiagnosed disease, often presenting with electrical conduction abnormalities or ventricular arrhythmias, prompting implantation of cardiac implantable electrical devices (CIEDs).
Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the performance of right ventricular sensing (RVSens) during implantation of CIEDs in patients presenting with increased left ventricular (LV) wall thicknesses (ILVWT) and preserved LV function to predict the diagnosis of CA.
Methods: All consecutive patients with ILVWT (maximal LV wall thickness ≥12 mm), preserved LV function and no significant aortic stenosis who underwent implantation of CIEDs at 2 French referral centers for rare and inheritable cardiac diseases were retrospectively evaluated.

Background And Objective: The role of anatomical factors in predicting outcomes after radical prostatectomy (RP) remains unclear. This review aims to evaluate the impact of various anatomical factors on the perioperative outcomes of patients undergoing RP for localized prostate cancer (PCa).
Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted through January 2024 using the PubMed/Medline, Embase, and Web of Science databases.

The TOPASE study was set up to evaluate the outcomes of chronic myeloid leukaemia [CML] patients treated with ponatinib (PON) in a real-world setting in France. One hundred and twenty CML patients, 105 in chronic phase (CP), 8 in accelerated phase (AP) and 7 in blastic phase (BP) were included. Fifty-one (49%) of the CP-CML patients were in third line of treatment.

Robotic coronary and intra-cardiac surgery has been available for more than 25 years. In this period, multiple studies have demonstrated the beneficial effects of robotic surgery over conventional open surgery. Throughout the years, technical developments have enabled us to perform totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass (TECAB) grafting.

JCO Primary analysis of the phase III randomized AATT study showed that younger patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) consolidated with autologous or allogeneic transplantation (alloSCT) had similar event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS). Seven-year EFS of patients randomly assigned to alloSCT was 38% (95% CI, 25 to 52) compared with 34% (95% CI, 22 to 47) for patients randomly assigned to autologous transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells (autoSCT); OS was 55% (95% CI, 41 to 69) and 61% (95% CI, 47 to 74). Among patients undergoing alloSCT (n = 26) or autoSCT (n = 41) on study, the cumulative progression/relapse rate was 8% (95% CI, 0 to 19) and 55% (95% CI, 35 to 74).

Large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) is a heterogeneous lymphoid malignancy in which MYC gene rearrangement (MYC-R) is associated with a poor prognosis, prompting the recommendation for more intensive treatment. MYC-R detection relies on fluorescence in situ hybridization method which is time consuming, expensive, and not available in all laboratories. Automating MYC-R detection on hematoxylin-and-eosin-stained whole slide images of LBCL would decrease the need for costly molecular testing and improve pathologists' productivity.

Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of cardiac arrhythmia. Its prevalence has increased due to worldwide populations that are aging in combination with the growing incidence of risk factors associated. Recent advances in our understanding of AF pathophysiology and the identification of nodal players involved in AF-promoting atrial remodeling highlights potential opportunities for new therapeutic approaches.

Background: In surgery, simulated-based training improves the knowledge and interpersonal skills needed for surgeons to improve their performance and meet the "never the first time on a patient" imperative. The objective is to evaluate the effects of a 2017 reform on surgeon's accessibility to simulation-based training, five years after the implementation of the program, and to gauge surgeon satisfaction.
Methods: A 27-item national online survey was sent to all surgical residents and fellows in the 13 surgical specialties.

Introduction: Effective surgical access to the orbital floor facilitates surgery and mitigates postoperative complications (PC). The aim of this study was to compare PC between the preseptal and retroseptal transconjunctival approaches (PS-TCA/RS-TCA) for isolated orbital floor fracture (OFF).
Materials And Methods: Using a double-blind, non-inferiority, randomized, split-face study design, patients aged ≥ 18 years with bilateral isolated OFF were enrolled.

Background: Intensive cardiac care units (ICCUs) were created to manage ventricular arrhythmias after acute coronary syndromes, but have diversified to include a more heterogeneous population, the characteristics of which are not well depicted by conventional methods.
Aims: To identify ICCU patient subgroups by phenotypic unsupervised clustering integrating clinical, biological, and echocardiographic data to reveal pathophysiological differences.
Methods: During 7-22 April 2021, we recruited all consecutive patients admitted to ICCUs in 39 centers.

Discussing Marian apparitions in the light of current knowledge in neuroscience is a challenge: the testimonies are often old and indirect, and the "visionaries" could not be questioned or even examined according to current neurological or psychiatric standards. In doing so, we are not unaware of the heterogeneity of seers and the facts they reported: there is not necessarily a single hypothesis. It is the appearances of Île Bouchard that will be discussed here.

Objectives: Although cardiogenic shock requiring extracorporeal life support after cardiac surgery is associated with high mortality, the impact of sex on outcomes of postcardiotomy extracorporeal life support remains unclear with conflicting results in the literature. We compare patient characteristics, in-hospital outcomes, and overall survival between females and males requiring postcardiotomy extracorporeal life support.
Methods: This retrospective, multicenter (34 centers), observational study included adults requiring postcardiotomy extracorporeal life support between 2000 and 2020.

Background: Atrial arrhythmias (AA) commonly affect patients with cardiac amyloidosis (CA) and are a contributing risk factor for the development of heart failure (HF). This study sought to investigate the long-term efficacy and impact of catheter ablation on HF progression in patients with CA and AA.
Methods: Thirty-one patients with CA and AA undergoing catheter ablation were retrospectively included (transthyretin-ATTR CA 61% and light chain-AL CA 39%).

Introduction: To answer to patients' medical wandering, often due to "unexplained symptoms" of "unexplained diseases" and to misinformation, multidisciplinary care centers for suspected Lyme borreliosis (LB), such as the 5 Tick-Borne Diseases (TBDs) Reference Centers (TBD-RC), were created a few years ago in France, the Netherlands and Denmark. Our study consisted of a comprehensive analysis of the satisfaction of the patients managed at a TBD-RC for suspected LB in the context of scientific and social controversy.
Methods: We included all adults who were admitted to one of the TBD-RC from 2017 to 2020.

Background: Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is the most prevalent cancer in the United States. Despite guidelines on ultraviolet (UV) avoidance, it remains difficult for people to assess their exposure, as UV is invisible and the onset of UV-induced symptoms is delayed.
Methods: In a prospective randomized trial, 97 elderly patients with a history of actinic keratoses (AK) were followed over 6 months.

JCO The primary analysis of the Ro-CHOP phase III randomized controlled trial (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT01796002) established that romidepsin (Ro) plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, prednisone (CHOP) did not yield an increased efficacy compared with CHOP alone as first-line treatment of peripheral T-cell lymphoma. We report the planned final analysis 5 years after the last patient enrolled.
