Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a common surgical procedure; however, graft failure with recurrent instability occurs in a significant percentage of patients. One known predictor of suboptimal outcomes is the diameter of the ACL graft, with grafts less than 8 mm in diameter associated with poorer outcomes. Factors such as graft harvest technique, preparation, and biological remodeling can also affect success.

Aims: Natriuretic peptide (NP) uptake varies in Emergency Departments (EDs) across Europe. The 'Peptide for Life' (P4L) initiative, led by Heart Failure Association, aims to enhance NP utilization for early diagnosis of heart failure (HF). We tested the hypothesis that implementing an educational campaign in Western Balkan countries would significantly increase NP adoption rates in the ED.

Background: To assess 28-day survival in two pilot groups of septic shock patients with euthyroid sick syndrome (ESS) supplemented with triiodothyronine (T3).
Methods: A total of 95 septic shock patients with ESS were divided according to values of the thyroid hormones into low T3 and low T3T4 groups. Among 48 patients with low T3, 24 (50%) were randomized to T3 for 4 days and 24 (50%) to placebo.

Introduction: The health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of people with (Pw) multiple sclerosis (MS) is usually deteriorated. It has been recently suggested that comorbidities may have the negative influence on the quality of life of the PwMS, but according to the best of our knowledge, only one study investigated, although in a very small cohort, the impact of individual comorbidity on the quality of life of PwMS. The aim of our investigation was to assess, in an international, multicentric study, the impact of comorbid seizure/epilepsy on the HRQoL in PwMS.

: Patellar tendinopathy is one of the most significant problems in jumping and running athletes. Eccentric quadriceps exercise has been introduced into the therapy of patients with patellar tendinopathy in order to avoid weakening the tendon during rehabilitation. The use of decline boards with a decline angle of 25° has been the cornerstone of therapy over the last two decades.

Purpose: To describe modification of the suprachoroidal buckling technique for the treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD), which may improve the safety profile.
Methods: A single-surgeon foot-pedal-controlled automated suprachoroidal injection (SCI) of sodium hyaluronate 1%, namely ProVisc (Alcon Laboratories, Fort Worth, TX) was used for the treatment of RRD. MicroDose Injection Kit (MedOne Surgical, Sarasota, FL) including a connector and a 1-mL syringe, designed for subretinal injection, was used to adapt Constellation Vision System (Alcon Laboratories) console for SCI of ProVisc from the 1-mL syringe.

Fluoroquinolones are a commonly prescribed class of antibiotics due to their broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, favorable pharmacokinetic properties, ability to switch from parenteral to oral administration, and global availability. After beta-lactams, they are the second most common antibiotic class associated with drug allergies. The mechanism of fluoroquinolone-induced hypersensitivity reactions has not yet been fully understood, so the true incidence of hypersensitivity reactions remains unknown.

The aim of our study was to connect the possible complications of early pregnancy (miscarriage and symptomatic ectopic pregnancy) up to the 12 week of gestation with biometeorological conditions while assuming a greater number of incidents with an unfavorable biometeorological forecast. We performed a retrospective observational study using medical data of a single medical center of Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Sveti Duh University Hospital and meteorological data from the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrometeorological Service in Zagreb. We tracked the number of visits to the gynecology and obstetrics emergency unit on a daily basis during 2017.

In this study, possible biochemical and functional cardiovascular markers were assessed in women with preeclampsia. Fifty-five pregnant women with manifest moderate (mild) preeclampsia (PE) and fifty healthy women as a control group were included in this prospective study. Laboratory tests including lipid panel, C-reactive protein (CRP), and homocysteine levels as biohumoral markers of atherogenesis, as well as ergometry and the main cardiovascular risk factor markers were performed in all women during pregnancy and six months after delivery.

In the pharmacokinetic analysis of ethanol after oral administration, only single- or two-compartment models are used, but their precision in estimating pharmacokinetic parameters might be insufficient. In a recent study, pharmacokinetic analysis using a modified Norberg three-compartment model was performed after oral administration of differently sweetened alcoholic solutions and compared to pharmacokinetic analysis using the classic Widmark model. On three occasions, eight male volunteers consumed differently sweetened alcoholic solutions: non-sweetened, sweetened with sucrose, and sweetened with steviol glycoside.

Background: Orthotopic urinary diversion is the preferred diversion after cystectomy. Neobladder reconstruction with a longer ileum segment (60 cm) is advantageous for obtaining a large capacity and continence at the beginning; however, the long-term risk of residual urine, chronic infection, and the need for intermittent catheterization is more pronounced with the neobladder constructed with a longer ileal segment compared to the neobladder tailored from the shorter ileal segment.
Objective: To establish the differences in the functional outcome of a shorter (< 45 cm) and longer (⩾ 45 cm) ileal segment usage in the reconstruction of the Hautmann ileal neobladder following the radical cystectomy.

Unlike in children, intussusception is very rare in adults and accounts for only 1% of ileus in that population. While intussusception in children is most often idiopathic, in adults the cause of intussusception in most cases is tumor and most often metastatic adenocarcinoma. It is an extremely rare phenomenon for intestinal melanoma metastasis to be the cause of intussusception and has been described in the literature so far only in a limited number of case reports.
