Necrotizing fasciitis is a potentially life-threatening infection that can lead to rapid muscular and fascial necrosis, often resulting in sepsis. In addition to the rapid disease progression, diagnosing this disease in children can be challenging as they cannot accurately communicate their symptoms. Spontaneous necrotizing fasciitis secondary to Clostridial infection has rarely been described in the literature but occurs in neutropenic patients with significant morbidity and mortality from myonecrosis and gas gangrene.

Background: Tacrolimus is an essential immunosuppressive medication in paediatric patients' post-liver transplantation. Achieving tacrolimus target concentration in early post-transplantation is crucial to minimise the risk of acute rejection; however, this is challenging due to inter- and intra-patient variability in tacrolimus metabolism and clearance. Therefore, our study aims to describe tacrolimus trough concentration variability and pharmacokinetics in paediatric post-liver transplantation during the first two weeks post-transplantation.

Background: The recent unprecedented foodborne botulism outbreak in Saudi Arabia necessitated an assessment of healthcare workers' (HCWs) knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP). This study assessed healthcare workers' knowledge regarding the transmission, contagiousness, presentation, and diagnosis of foodborne botulism, as well as their management practices, including contacting public health authorities, administering antitoxin, preparedness to respond to botulism cases and consulting generative Artificial Intelligent (AI)-chatbots, like ChatGPT.
Methods: A cross-sectional online survey targeting Saudi HCWs was conducted from May 6-19, 2024, following the first foodborne botulism outbreak.

Purpose: Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by epithelial cells that is involved in the activation of allergic disorders. To date, no study has examined TSLP induction during Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection. Herein, we aimed to study the effects of the recombinant spike protein of MERS-CoV on TSLP production.

Cross-education describes the training of one limb that leads to performance enhancements in the contralateral untrained limb, driven by neural changes rather than muscle adaptation. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of cross-education (vs. a control group) via resistance exercise training (RET) for improving muscle strength in the untrained lower limb of healthy males and females.

Background: Preoperative intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) before coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) could improve operative outcomes by augmenting the diastolic coronary blood flow. Data on preoperative IABP use in patients with left-main coronary artery (LMCA) disease are limited. This study aimed to characterize patients who received preoperative IABP before CABG for LMCA and evaluate its effect on postoperative outcomes.

Newborn screening (NBS) programs are believed to play an important role in the decrease of infant mortality rates in many countries. This is achieved through offering early detection and treatment of many genetic as well as metabolic disorders prior to the onset of symptoms. Our paper examines NBS across seven diverse nations: Saudi Arabia, the United States, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

Nano round polycrystalline adsorbent (NRPA) of chicken bones origin was utilize as effective adsorbent in Congo red dye removal via aqueous media. The NRPA adsorbent was prepared via thermal decomposition and its structure was investigated with the aids of Transmission Electron Microscopy, Fourier Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX), and X-ray Diffractometer (XRD). A monophasic apatite phase was confirmed from XRD investigation, while functional groups analysis showed that NRPA possessed CO PO and OH absorption bands.
