shows dual hepatoprotective and hepatotoxic effects. The bioactive components responsible for these effects are unknown. This study investigates whether -2,3,5,4'-tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O--D-glucoside (-TSG), a stilbene glycoside, has hepatoprotective and/or hepatotoxic effects in a liver injury model.

Introduction: Confusion regarding methadone metabolism exists, hampering optimal clinical use. A systematic review was conducted to assess the impacts of cytochrome P450 (CYP) genetic polymorphisms on methadone outcomes.
Methods: MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, PsycINFO, and CENTRAL were searched to identify studies reporting methadone dose-adjusted plasma concentrations, clearance, maintenance dose, or treatment response in relation to polymorphisms in humans.

A-kinase anchoring protein 12 (AKAP12) is a key scaffolding protein that regulates cellular signaling by anchoring protein kinase A (PKA) and other signaling molecules. While recent studies suggest an important role for AKAP12 in the brain, including cognitive functions, its role in middle-aged mice and potential sex differences are not fully understood. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of AKAP12 on cognitive and exploratory behavior in middle-aged mice, focusing on sex differences.

Introduction: Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education Standards require reasonable accommodation for students with disabilities in an educational setting. There is limited information regarding preceptor experiences and perspectives associated with accommodations in the pharmacy experiential learning environment. This study examined preceptor experiences and viewpoints and explored opportunities for schools/colleges of pharmacy (S/COP) to provide support and education for preceptors when meeting access needs.

Background: Pre-diabetes, characterized by elevated glycemic indices, poses a high risk of diabetes development, and is increasingly linked to non-specific low back pain. While mechanisms remain incompletely understood, metabolic, inflammatory, and neurological factors are implicated. Dietary interventions, including low-glycemic and anti-inflammatory diets, alongside weight management, may improve outcomes in this population.

Objectives: The Curricular Outcomes and Entrustable Professional Activities learning outcome of Cultural and Structural Humility was updated, prompting programs to evaluate how this content is included. The authors reviewed relevant literature published within the past 10 years (2014-2024) and provided a summary and relevant recommendations, as well as resources.
Findings: Calls to action were made within the Academy for programs to develop a holistic programmatic approach to developing students' cultural and structural humility.

Beta-blockers are recommended in the first 24 hours after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) except in those at risk of cardiogenic shock. This retrospective cohort study aimed to assess if early beta-blocker use was associated with cardiogenic shock development in STEMI patients. Cardiogenic shock was assessed in adult patients with STEMI undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with guideline defined risk factors for shock (age above 70 years, systolic blood pressure below 120 mmHg, and heart rate above 120 bpm or below 60 bpm) who did or did not receive a beta-blocker within 24 hours of PCI.

The purpose of this study was to compare bleeding and thrombotic rates in critically-ill adults with pre-existing AF receiving therapeutic anticoagulation versus chemical or mechanical venous thromboembolism prophylaxis. A retrospective, observational study was conducted.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have become a vital class of therapeutics in oncology because of their ability to selectively deliver potent drug molecules to tumor cells. However, ADC-associated toxicities cause high failure rates in the clinic and hinder their full potential. Due to the complex structure and pharmacokinetics of ADCs, it is challenging to identify the drivers of their toxicities.

Importance: Pediatric patients with cancer commonly experience severely bothersome symptoms. The effectiveness of routine symptom screening with symptom feedback and symptom management care pathways is unknown.
Objective: To determine whether thrice-weekly symptom screening with symptom feedback and management care pathways, compared with usual care, improves overall self-reported symptom scores measured by the Symptom Screening in Pediatrics Tool (SSPedi) in pediatric patients with cancer.

Background And Aim: Cryptosporidiosis is a major waterborne disease affecting ruminants and humans worldwide. It causes diarrhea and neonatal mortality in buffalo calves, and watery diarrhea and mortality in children and immunodeficient patients. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of methanolic extract in treatment of infection in comparison with nitazoxanide (NZX) (a Food and Drug Administration-approved drug control) in immunosuppressed and immunocompetent mice.

Pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with or without streptococcal and other bacterial infections (PANDAS/CANS) are emerging as a featured pediatric disorder. Although there is some controversy regarding treatment approaches, especially related to the behavioral sequelae, we have hypothesized in other published work that it is characterized by the rapid onset of Reward Deficiency Syndrome (RDS) in children. We propose utilizing a multi-systems biological approach involving the coupling of genetic addiction risk testing and pro-dopamine regulation (KB220/POLYGEN) to help induce "dopamine homeostasis" in patients with PANDAS, especially those with known DNA-induced hypodopaminergia.

Biofilms play an important role in the development and pathogenesis of catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI). and are common CAUTI pathogens that persistently co-colonize the catheterized urinary tract and form biofilms with increased biomass and antibiotic resistance. In this study, we uncover the metabolic interplay that drives biofilm enhancement and examine the contribution to CAUTI severity.

The resistance mechanism of Gram-negative bacteria to the siderophore antibiotic cefiderocol is primarily attributed to carbapenemase and siderophore uptake pathways; however, specific factors and their relationships remain to be fully elucidated. Here, we constructed cefiderocol-resistant (CRKP) strains carrying different carbapenemases and knocked out siderophore genes to investigate the roles of various carbapenemases and siderophores in the development of cefiderocol resistance. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing revealed that both and significantly increased the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of (KP) to cefiderocol, while showed a modest increase.

Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) pose a significant threat to immunocompromised individuals, leading to considerable morbidity and mortality. Prompt and accurate diagnosis is essential for effective treatment. Here we develop a rapid molecular diagnostic method that involves three steps: fungal enrichment using affinity-magnetic separation (AMS), genomic DNA extraction with silicon hydroxyl magnetic beads, and detection through a one-pot system.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of molecular size on the pulmonary pharmacokinetics (PK) of proteins following systemic and local administration in wild-type mice. A non-cross-reactive antibody trastuzumab, and F(ab')2, Fab, and scFv fragments of this antibody were used for the investigation. Proteins were injected intravenously or via intratracheal instillation, and PK was measured in plasma, lungs, trachea, bronchi, and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) using ELISA.
